This photo was taken in 2022..
Kevin behind the wheel of my Defender.. smiling, happy and enjoying the moment..
Today, Kevin has completed his earthly journey..
Over the past year, many of us prayed, hoped and followed his long battle.. Yesterday (21 June 2026), that fight has come to an end..
As I look at this photo, I choose not to remember the hospital beds, the surgeries, the tubes or the setbacks.. I choose to remember this Kevin.. the brother and friend who shared our journeys, our conversations, our laughter and our adventures..
Life has a way of reminding us that none of us knows how many miles are left on our journey.. What matters is not how long the road is, but who travelled alongside us..
Thank you for being part of our journey, Kevin..
May the roads ahead be smooth, the skies clear and the winds always at your back..
Rest in peace, my friend, my brother..

The most dangerous words in the world are not "heart disease".. it is "LATER.."
Funny how life teaches us lessons through the things we love..
For the past few years, I've spent countless hours looking after my old Defender..
Checking temperatures..
Replacing worn parts..
Changing fluids..
Listening for strange noises..
Fixing small problems before they become big ones..
Because every Defender owner knows one truth..
Maintenance is always cheaper than breakdowns.. π
Yet somehow.. when it came to my own health.. I kept saying..
"Later.."
"After this event.."
"After Christmas.."
"After Chinese New Year.."
Thankfully, a friend kept nagging me to go for a heart screening..
That eventually led to an angiogram at IJN..
And on 14 May 2026.. I got to see the inside of my own heart..
Not metaphorically.. Literally..
The good news.. no stent was required..
The better news.. I received a timely reminder that our bodies are not very different from our Defenders..
Ignore the warning signs long enough.. and eventually something will demand attention..
The difference is..
Parts for a Defender can be replaced..
Parts for Edmund are considerably harder to source.. π
So here's a friendly reminder from one old Defender owner to another..
Service your vehicle regularly..
But don't forget to service yourself too..
Check your blood pressure..
Check your sugar..
Check your cholesterol..
Because the most important journey isn't the one your Defender takes..
It's the one that brings you safely home to the people who love you..

Me, my wife, my Defender and I..
Fifteen years ago, on 11-6-11, I married my wife..
Twenty-four years ago, my Defender rolled out of the factory..
One has been the love of my life..
The other has been the source of many headaches, countless repairs, unexplained noises, occasional overheating, and a never-ending list of "small improvements".. π
Yet somehow, both are still with me today..
Over the years, I have learnt that relationships are not built because everything is perfect..
They endure because we choose to stay committed through the imperfections..
Whether it is marriage, friendship, family or even an old Defender, the journey is never always smooth..
There will be breakdowns..
There will be frustrations..
There will be moments when giving up seems easier..
But sometimes the things worth keeping are the things worth fixing..
So here's to another year of marriage..
Another year of adventures..
And another year of keeping an old Defender on the road..
