Fun weekend in Hempstead for the Waller County Fair & Rodeo Cookoff! The weather wasn't quite as hot as it's been, I wasn't sick, and we stayed super busy cooking all weekend... let's just say things even got a little hairy 😁

Carmen Ridge Breeden signed up to compete as one of the 8 chefs to compete in the Beat Bobby Flay Smith Chopped Showdown on Friday night.

Eight chefs went head to head in the first round category of “Anything Wrapped in Bacon”, and after 45 minutes the top 4 moved on to Round 2.

Carmen finished 1st place in Round 1 with her bacon-wrapped quail legs with peach habanero glaze and a smoked bacon-wrapped honey bun topped with grilled peach and hot honey! 🔥

Round 2 started immediately with the top 4 going head to head in the “Slamming Sliders” round, with the winner advancing to the final to take on Bobby Flay Smith.

Carmen finished 2nd with her Nashville Hot Honey Sliders over a bed of crispy seasoned fries!

You did great, babe...Bobby got lucky! 😂

On to Saturday...

Reid threw down on pork chops and took 1st place in the Sr. Kids Q and he got a sweet buckle! That pork chop was bangin', bud...nice work! 👊

And the meats...

Ribs didn't walk...missed GC by a hair!

The last call never gets old! #59

We had good intentions of getting to Jellystone in Waller on Thursday, but it just wasn’t in the cards.

Reid had his first 7th grade football game Thursday afternoon in Bandera and after watching the Bulldogs squeak out the win 34-0...the plan was to hit the road headed East. What started as me not feeling too good turned into “there ain’t no way we’re leaving tonight.”

Felt a little better early Friday morning, so we wheeled out...and that “little better” turned into not feeling worth a s**t pretty quick.

Carmen carried the load all weekend and kept us on track...no way I could have gotten through the weekend without you, babe! Whatever the hell little devil bug hopped on me pretty much wiped me out for several days. Hopefully I’m on the tail end of it now. Appreciate everybody who checked on me and sent get well wishes!

Somehow we still managed to grind out a 9th Overall at the Danny Dietz Memorial World Championship Cookoff!

We drug home a smooth $2,175 out of the $50K prize pool! Heck of a payout and we sure do appreciate it. We’ll invest wisely into more BBQ, diesel and meds! 😁

The class put in some serious work this weekend. I really don’t ever mention it out of respect for those who have taken it, but it was pretty cool seeing all the walks this weekend and hearing from folks who said it helped. Thank y’all!

We had a great day at Denny’s Memorial Scholarship Cookoff in Needville... despite it being 137° in the shade.
It was really hot... did I mention it was hot 🔥

Reid won 1st place Pork Chop! Congrats Bubba 💪 It was hot

Then they started calling chicken... Carmen Ridge Breeden had the chicken dialed in this weekend and when we hit 6th we had a feeling it was gonna be a good day. I’d have to check the archives but 6th Chicken sure has ended up on a bunch of GCs for us.

LC BBQ cooked the Texas Chrome Hero's Foundation Cookoff at El Campo Lost Lagoon RV Resort this weekend. A pool at every cookoff in August should be mandatory haha... sure was nice in this heat!
Running Boar took 2nd in the Sr Kids Q! Nice work Bubba!
We had a great cook and almost got around em all...
