Karma Trip is about spreading random acts of kindness and helping people around the world! I am from Thunder Bay, Ontario but currently live in Vancouver, BC.
"The world desperately needs more peacemakers, healers, restorers, storytellers and lovers of all kinds."
~ Dalai Lama
My dream is to go on a Karma Trip!! I want to travel all around Asia doing random acts of kindness and helping those in need! I travelled to India in January 2014 and it completely changed my life. It was like entering a whole other world. I was welcomed with love and was treated
with so much kindness from strangers who gave me a helping hand where ever I went. Whether it was for translating due to the language barrier, getting food and a place to stay, or even helping to write out information on my train tickets. It was because of people's random acts of kindness that made my journey so much easier, safer and a much more richer experience. I want to give back by going back to India and other countries in Asia by doing things that make people happy. I have always had a passion for helping others. For the past 3 years I've helped serve food at a shelter in Vancouver and for 2 years I was volunteering as a personal support person for a woman with MS in a weekly swimming program. I've also gone to hospitals and offered free massage to those with cancer. During my studies of Recreation and Leisure Services at Fanshawe College in London, Ontario, I did my student placements working at the Canadian Cancer Society where I set up my own fundraising events doing 'Highlights for Hope', a pink highlight campaign dedicated to raising funds and awareness for cancer research, education and support. I also worked in the Foundations office at a Hospital assisting the Head Coordinator for Special Events and Fundraising where we brought Archbishop Desmond Tutu and Lieutenant Romeo Dallaire to speak. This past October, I volunteered my time helping the Tsengdok Monastery in Vancouver preparing for their event with the Dalai Lama, having over 6000 people in attendance. With my experiences, I am ready to get out in the world and keep paying it forward. I want to build a school in India and help people who are ill and live in poverty. I will travel all around Asia and do random acts of kindness in every country I visit. I will do things such as buying people food, books and soccer balls, buy someone a train ticket and pay for someone's medical bill, etc. There are a lot of people out there who need help! Karma Trip's focus is to connect with others in a positive way. By going on this trip, I hope to make a difference in people's lives and inspire others to travel and do random acts of kindness. I invite you to follow me on this journey! I will have an updated blog and post videos of kindness in action. Thank you so much for your support and donations. Every little bit helps!! Together I believe we can change the world, one smile at a time. Blessings and Be Kind,
Amanda
Please watch this video as well. It really shows how even smallest acts of kindness can affect someone's day and the saying about karma, 'what goes around comes around'! Enjoy :) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nwAYpLVyeFU
