The Guduskum Cup has come to an end, and what an incredible experience it has been for our Young Saints!

Over the two days, our players faced strong, quality opposition that challenged them to give their very best. The first day was a tough one, with our Under 8s standing out with some fantastic performances and several closely contested matches.

On the second day, our Under 10s and Under 12s showed tremendous improvement in the finals. They raised their level dramatically, competed with great determination, and gave their opponents a real challenge. Although the results didn't go our way, we couldn't be prouder of the effort, commitment, and progress they showed.

Experiences like these are invaluable. Every match is an opportunity to learn, grow, and become stronger players and teammates. Keep working hard, keep believing, and keep enjoying the journey, kids—we're proud of every one of you!

It wasn't all about football either. Over the two days, we also enjoyed some fun activities together, and there are plenty more to come in our last 2 days im Serbia! We'll be sharing photos from these moments soon.

After three successful years of our nursery programme, we continue to grow stronger every season, building solid foundations for our young players. Our dedicated coaching team is constantly developing and improving to provide the best possible experience for every child.

The countdown is on! Our Summer Camp kicks off on 13th July, and we're excited to introduce the coaching team that will make it another unforgettable experience.

🔥 Head Coach – Daniel Portelli
Leading the camp is our Head Coach, Daniel Portelli, who will once again be overseeing all sessions and ensuring every player enjoys a fun, challenging and rewarding experience.

👏 Coach Joe
No introduction needed! Coach Joe returns for another summer, bringing his passion, energy and commitment to every training session.

💪 Coach Matthew & Coach Kurt
Following an excellent season, Coach Matthew and Coach Kurt are back and ready to continue helping our young players develop both on and off the pitch.

🧤 Goalkeeping Coach – Neil
After making a fantastic impact during the final months of last season, we're delighted to welcome Coach Neil back—not only for our Summer Camp but for the upcoming season as well.

Coach Neil is a 40 year veteran of Goalkeeping. Having played in the Gothia Cup in 1985 against Brazil, West Germany and teams from across Scandinavia, he went on to play county league football in the UK before turning to coaching. A qualified English FA coach, Neil has a wealth of experience coaching both nursery’s and adults football at all levels. His sessions are structured, fun and engaging, guaranteed to help improve experienced and aspiring goalkeepers.

Today, we celebrate all the amazing fathers, grandfathers, and father figures who are part of our nursery family.

Thank you for every early morning, every training session, every match, every word of encouragement, and every moment you spend supporting your children. Your dedication, patience, and love help our young players grow not only as footballers but also as confident, respectful, and resilient individuals.

Your support from the sidelines and your commitment behind the scenes make a world of difference. We are proud to have such wonderful families as part of Qala Saints FC Nursery.

We wish you all a very Happy Father's Day filled with love, happiness, and precious moments with your families.

We would like to congratulate one of our coaches, Joe Portelli, on the well-deserved recognition he received today at the Gozo Football Awards for his outstanding contribution to youth football.

For nearly 40 years, Joe has dedicated his time, passion, and energy to developing young players. His remarkable journey includes 36 years with Nadur Youngsters FC Nursery, several years with Gozo representative teams, and the last three years with our Nursery.

Throughout these decades of relentless commitment, hundreds of players have come through his guidance, countless honours have been achieved, and an immeasurable impact has been made on the local game. Yet Joe's greatest achievement goes far beyond trophies and results. His true legacy lies in the values he has instilled, helping young people grow not only into great footballers, but also into better human beings.

Thank you, Joe, for your dedication, passion, and unwavering commitment to youth development. This recognition is richly deserved, and we are proud to have you as part of our family.

And that’s a wrap on another fantastic season!

Yesterday, we celebrated together at our pitch with our end-of-season party. It was wonderful to see all our kids together, enjoying themselves and creating more great memories.

A huge thank you to everyone involved, especially our parents. Your support throughout the season has been invaluable, and we simply couldn’t have done it without you.

After three seasons, the foundations we have built are firmly in place and growing stronger every year. There is still plenty to improve and many areas to develop, but seeing the smiles, effort, and enthusiasm on display yesterday gives us great confidence and hope for the future.

A special thank you also goes to all our coaches, who gave their all throughout the season with dedication, passion, and determination. Your commitment has made a real difference.

Now, we turn our attention to the next exciting adventure 😉—and of course, our Summer Camp afterwards!

Our 7s faced Għajnsielem once again, showing great development and progress. Meanwhile, our 13s played a friendly match against DS Academy as part of their preparations for their upcoming trip abroad. Fantastic effort from everyone involved 👏⚽

Now we head into the final week of the season, with plenty of exciting activities ahead as we continue preparing for another unforgettable trip 😉

Weekend round-up ⚽

Our Under 9s and Girls Team were at the Gozo Stadium last Saturday. Great work from everyone, with full squads showing commitment and enthusiasm. Keep it up! 👏

Our Under 11s also played against Victoria Hotspurs at our pitch. Once again, there was great improvement on display — all the hard work throughout the season is paying off, guys! 💪
