‘At the end of last season, our friend Ciccio, who now dedicates himself full-time to the extraordinary work of the Exodus Foundation on Elba Island, reached out with a challenge: the sails on their Baltic 51 and Hallberg-Rassy 49 had reached the end of their life, and without replacements, continuing their activities would have been difficult.
Today, we are proud to share this video from the Gulf of Portoferraio, where Ciccio and his crew are once again sailing thanks to a set of sails donated by MCCNS through the collaboration with Malta Sail Factory.
This achievement would not have been possible without the trust and continued support of the many yacht owners who choose to work with us. Their confidence in our work enables us to support initiatives that create a meaningful impact within the sailing community and beyond.
We would also like to extend our sincere thanks to our crew members, whose professionalism, dedication, and commitment play an essential role in everything we do.
Our gratitude goes to Malta Sail Factory for producing the sails and helping bring this idea to life through their expertise and dedication. By supplying the sails at minimum production cost, they made this initiative a reality.
Seeing Ciccio and his crew back on the water is a reminder that sailing is about more than boats and sails.’

[…] On this journey we are not alone: 2025 marked an important milestone for us, during which
we also decided to enter into a pact of strong ethical value with Holly Manvell and
, with the aim of further cementing our action in the Mediterranean region and
beyond.
During the first quarter of this year we strengthened relationships born within the sector, from
long-standing collaborations that became friendships and sometimes simply from chance.
Alongside familiar faces such as , leaders in the reuse of recovered sail
material, and of our friend Franklin, new faces have joined us, including
Ilaria,Concetta and Nina of .it , Dario and Silvia of in Italy, Francisco of
sailing, as well as .bags in Spain and in Greece.’

In 2025, we were sailmakers. Today, we also work with what comes after - recovering and reusing technical sailcloth.
We are growing a community together with with the support of Holly Manvell and the people at . Through a network of partner companies - .it .bags .sailing we collect, sort, and transform used sails into new products.�
Our MSF Upcycling Points in Malta, Italy, Antigua, Montenegro, Greece, Albania, France and Spain make it easier to give sails a second wind.
Secondwind is a practical system, developed through collaboration, keeping materials in use before, during and after navigation.

Last May, we donated Optimist training sails to the and the to support their young athletes.
Our commitment to the Malta Sailing Federation continues, and new donations are already on the horizon as we begin collaborating with five additional sailing schools and community programs.
We have also confirmed the donation of five Optimist training sails—one for each Maltese club—plus two racing sails to be awarded to the 2025 Maltese male and female champions.
At the same time, we are reclaiming old sails that have accompanied generations of young sailors and giving them a new life — putting them back into circulation so they can catch their second wind.
