One year ago today, I made one of the biggest decisions of my life.
On June 30, 2025, I had my last smoke and my last drink. On July 1, 2025, I began a journey that completely changed me.
For more than a decade, I depended on w**d and alcohol for appetite, relaxation, entertainment, and sometimes just to cope. I honestly didn’t know what life would feel like without them.
Today, I know.
Over the past year, I’ve gained far more than I gave up.
I gained a healthy appetite.
I gained a stronger body.
I gained confidence.
I gained peace of mind.
I gained financial freedom from a habit that was quietly costing me.
I gained discipline.
Most importantly, I gained a deeper appreciation for the life God has given me.
There were days I wanted to smoke.
There were moments I thought about drinking.
There were celebrations, painful, stressful days, and ordinary days.
But I kept choosing the life I wanted over the temporary feeling I was used to.
Looking back, I realize sobriety didn’t just remove something from my life—it gave me my life back.
To everyone who encouraged me, prayed for me, or simply noticed the positive changes in me, thank you.
Above all, I thank God for giving me the strength to make it one full year.
365 days.
One year.
And this is only the beginning.
Here’s to Year 2. 🙏🏽❤️
