Welcome to the registration for the GDCA Pairing Arbiters’ Workshop – Swiss-Manager Training 2026.

This workshop is organized by the Galle District Chess Association (GDCA) to enhance the practical skills of pairing arbiters in using Swiss-Manager, the leading tournament management software for chess competitions.

Proud Moment for Galle District Chess Association! ♟️🏆

The Galle District Chess Association was honored to sponsor the T-shirts and jerseys for the Men’s and Women’s chess teams representing Galle District at the 36th National Youth Festival – 2026, following a request from the National Youth Services Council.

What makes this even more special is that both our Men’s and Women’s teams emerged as Champions in their respective categories! 🥇🥇 This incredible achievement brings immense pride and joy to all of us.

Looking back on our journey since the establishment of the Association in 2023, we are humbled by how far we have come. Supporting and empowering teams representing our beloved Galle District at major sporting events has always been one of our goals, and seeing them succeed on the national stage makes every effort worthwhile.

මෙම සති අන්තයේ (ජූලි 25,26) පැවැත්වීමට නියමිතව තිබූ 2026 ගාල්ල දිස්ත්‍රික් චෙස් ශූරතාවලියේ කලාපීය තරඟාවලි හතර (ගාල්ල, අම්බලන්ගොඩ, ඇල්පිටිය සහ උඩුගම) මඟහැරිය නොහැකි හේතූන් මත කල් දැමීමට සිදුවී ඇති බව කනගාටුවෙන් යුතුව දැනුම් දෙමු.

මෙවර ශූරතාවලිය සැලසුම් කළ පරිදි ආරම්භ කිරීම සඳහා අවශ්‍ය සියලු කටයුතු සූදානම් කර තිබුණ ද, සංවිධායක කමිටුවේ පාලනයෙන් බැහැර වූ අනපේක්ෂිත අභියෝග කිහිපයක් හේතුවෙන් මෙම අවස්ථාවේදී තරඟාවලිය පවත්වාගෙන යාමට නොහැකි වී තිබේ.

ක්‍රීඩක ක්‍රීඩිකාවන්, දෙමාපියන්, පුහුණුකරුවන් ඇතුළු සමස්ත ගාලු චෙස් ප්‍රජාවම මෙවර ශූරතාවලිය පිළිබඳව මහත් බලාපොරොත්තු තබාගෙන සිටි බව අපි හොඳින් දනිමු. අපගේ අරමුණ වූයේ සැමවිටම වෙන කවරදාටත් වඩා ඉහළ ප්‍රමිතියකින් යුතුව මෙම තරඟාවලිය සංවිධානය කිරීමයි. එම උත්සාහයේ කොටසක් ලෙස, මෙම ශූරතාවලියේ දෙවන සහ තෙවන අදියරයන් සඳහා FIDE ජාත්‍යන්තර ශ්‍රේණිගත කිරීම් (FIDE rating) ලබා ගැනීමට ශ්‍රී ලංකා චෙස් සම්මේලනය වෙත ද අප මේ වන විටත් ඉල්ලීම් ඉදිරිපත් කර ඇත.

කෙසේ වෙතත්, පැනනැඟී ඇති වත්මන් තත්ත්වය හේතුවෙන් මෙම ගැටලු නිරාකරණය වන තෙක් තරඟාවලිය කල් දැමීමට අපට සිදුවී තිබේ.

තරඟාවලිය සඳහා සූදානම් වෙමින් සිටි සියලුම ක්‍රීඩක ක්‍රීඩිකාවන්, දෙමාපියන්, පුහුණුකරුවන්, පාසල් සහ නිලධාරීන්ට මෙයින් සිදු වූ අපහසුතාවය පිළිබඳව අපගේ අවංක කනගාටුව ප්‍රකාශ කර සිටිමු.

පවතින තත්ත්වය හැකි ඉක්මනින් විසඳා ගැනීමට අප උපරිමයෙන් කටයුතු කරමින් සිටින අතර, සංශෝධිත තරඟ කාලසටහන සහ ශූරතාවලියේ ඉදිරි තොරතුරු හැකි ඉක්මනින් නිල වශයෙන් ප්‍රකාශයට පත් කිරීමට පියවර ගන්නෙමු.

Official Statement

Dear Galle Chess Community,

We regret to inform you that the four zonal events of the 2026 Galle District Chess Championship, Galle, Ambalangoda, Elpitiya, and Udugama, scheduled to be held this weekend (July 25,26) , have been postponed due to unavoidable circumstances.

All necessary arrangements had been made to commence this year’s championship cycle as planned. However, due to unexpected challenges beyond the Organizing Committee’s control, it has not been possible to proceed with the events at this time.

We understand that players, parents, coaches, and the entire Galle chess community have been eagerly looking forward to this year’s championship. Our objective has always been to organize the tournament to a higher standard than ever before. As part of these efforts, we have already submitted requests to the Chess Federation of Sri Lanka to obtain FIDE rating status for the Second and Third Stages of the championship.

Unfortunately, the current circumstances have made it necessary to postpone the tournament until these matters are resolved.

We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience caused to all players, parents, coaches, schools, and officials who had made preparations to participate.

We are working diligently to resolve the situation as soon as possible and will announce the revised schedule and further details of the championship at the earliest opportunity.

Thank you for your patience, understanding, and continued support of chess in Galle.
