🏏 International Doctors Cricket League (IDCL) – Season 2

The International Doctors Cricket League (IDCL) Season 2 will be held from 28th July to 2nd August in Chennai, India. Sri Lanka will proudly be represented by two teams—SLDC Royals and SLDC Lions.

We proudly present SLDC Lions—one of the two teams representing Sri Lanka at the International Doctors Cricket League (IDCL) Season 2 in Chennai, India.

A dynamic squad bringing together youthful energy, skill, and the experience of seasoned campaigners, united by one mission—to wear the Sri Lankan colours with pride and deliver their very best on the international stage.

Wishing the entire team every success for a memorable and victorious tournament. Play with passion, commitment, and the true spirit of the game. May you create unforgettable moments and make Sri Lanka proud.

Sri Lanka plans to transform Badulla into a full‑fledged sports city, with phased development of its main playground into a modern sports complex. Sports Minister Sunil Kumara Gamage led inspections of key facilities, pledging rapid upgrades to football and rugby grounds, conversion of a garbage site into an indoor sports venue, and a new center pitch at the cricket ground. He said shortcomings will be fixed with municipal support, with initial steps to be taken this year.

​From 2012 to 2026, Cytias CC has been far more than just a cricket club, it has been a brotherhood, a stepping stone, and a home. After 14 incredible years of sweat, grit, and pure passion for the game, the time has come for us to draw the stumps on this beautiful journey.

​We are officially stepping away from playing under the Cytias CC banner, but we leave with our heads held high and hearts full of pride.

​For over a decade, we played our hearts out in the Badulla District Division III. Until 2023, this division was a fierce, highly competitive arena, and it brought out the absolute best cricket in us.

​𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐋𝐞𝐠𝐚𝐜𝐲 𝐖𝐞 𝐋𝐞𝐚𝐯𝐞 𝐁𝐞𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐝:

🟢 ​The Semifinal Streak: From 2018 onwards, we qualified for the semifinals of every single major league organized by the Badulla District Cricket Association (with the sole exception of 2025).

🟢 ​The Finals: We proudly stood as Finalists in the BDCA T20 Tournament and reached the Division III finals on multiple occasions.

🟢 ​The Records: Who could ever forget that legendary 50-over game where we posted a massive 460 runs, powered by Thevin Amarasinghe’s spectacular 234 runs

​We grew from a local team into a beloved community brand. Our strength was always our diversity. We brought together players from every corner of the district—Nikapotha, Haputale, Welimada, Atampitiya, Bandarawela, Badulla, Passara, Madolsima, Meegahakiula, and beyond.
​Cytias became a proud home for numerous school cricketers and a sanctuary for Uva Wellassa University players. Through this shared passion, we proudly produced:

​For 14 long years, we were entirely self-funded and sustained by the sheer dedication of our own players. It was the players who kept the Cytias flag flying high through thick and thin, proving that passion and brotherhood mean more than any external backing.

​As we close this chapter, we want to express our deepest gratitude to everyone who was a part of our journey:

Cricket is not just about winning and celebrating, guys. It's a game of discipline. When school players were playing on both sides, outside supporters and one player were saying to our batter after his wicket:

"K Ba came to the wicket."
"Out unanan palayan pa "

It's sad to see respected senior players with a few officials there. We don't know what revenge they're having against us. Rather than blaming us, Try to take something from this message. We're not mad at you; we just played cricket with you.

You may have won the game and be more talented than any team in Sri Lanka, but the harm you're doing to young school cricketers with this attitude is cursed 😞
