Machakos county Residents have been urged to be vigilant and not be misused by political leaders but instead be sold development policies.This is according to Mwala MP Eng Vincent Musyoka who said the time for threatening citizens with politics is over.On his part, Kalama MCA hon.Boniface Maeke said they as Machakos MCAs are ready to defend the people of Machakos.However, he condemned the planned Monday protests to push for the passing of the budget, saying budget matters should be resolved in the assembly and not on the streets.

Machakos County workers have announced plans for a peaceful demonstration on Monday to the County Assembly premises, protesting the delay in passing the 2026/2027 financial year budget.Union officials say the delay has paralyzed service delivery and affected workers' welfare across the county.The workers are accusing MCAs of playing politics with a budget that is meant to serve the people of Machakos.
They are demanding that the assembly passes the budget immediately so that salaries, services, and development projects can resume.

The Machakos County Assembly has been given a 24-hour ultimatum to pass the 2026/2027 financial year budget that was supposed to be passed in June but has not been approved to date.This is according to human rights defenders from Machakos County who have blamed the assembly for delaying the budget.Speaking to journalists, the defenders have threatened to lead protests to the assembly premises to push for the passing of the budget.They are demanding that the budget be passed within 24 hours so that development projects can begin.

Kalama Ward MCA, Hon. Boniface Maeke, has criticized Machakos County Assembly Majority Leader who is also Machakos Central MCA,Hon. Nicholas Nzioka, for blaming gubernatorial aspirant Nzioka Waita for MCAs’ failure to pass the 2026-2027 budget.Maeke said the claims are unfounded because Waita is only an aspirant and is not a member of the Machakos County Budget Committee.The MCA added that they are focused on passing a budget that will benefit the people of Machakos not individuals.

The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission, IEBC has pledged to Kenyans that the 2027 General Election will be free, fair and transparent.Speaking during a public participation forum on political party funding in Machakos, IEBC Commissioner Mr. Alutalala Mukhwana said the commission is fully prepared to ensure every Kenyan vote counts.He also warned that rejecting election results could lead to post-election violence.

Mua Ward MCA, Hon. Francis Ngunga,has urged the Kamba community, under the leadership of Wiper Party Leader H.E. Kalonzo Musyoka to join government in order to benefit from development like other communities.Speaking during a meeting with widows from Katheka Kai Sub-Location, Ngunga donated gifts to them as a sign of love and called on them to uphold unity.The MCA also encouraged the widows not to give up but to continue supporting one another saying through faith, resilience and togetherness they can overcome personal and family challenges.

Machakos County Assembly Majority Leader and also MCA for Machakos Central Hon. Nicholas Nzioka, has criticized UDA gubernatorial aspirant Nzioka Waita for allegedly inciting some MCAs to reject the county budget.Speaking to journalists at the County Assembly, Nicholas termed it unfortunate that Waita is frustrating the passage of the 2026/2027 financial year budget.The Majority Leader called on all MCAs to put politics aside and prioritize service delivery to residents.

Francis Ngunga has said it is the duty of every Kenyan to respect and tolerate one another.Speaking to members of various churches in Kyasila, Mua Ward Francis Ngunga stated that the lack of respect in the country is taking Kenya in the wrong direction.He was speaking during a church service and after joining A.I.C Kyasila Church in a fundraising to support the church choir’s music shooting.The MCA also urged the youth to avoid being used by politicians to engage in goonism.

Wiper and Azimio la Umoja Party Leader,H.E. Kalonzo Musyoka attended a funeral service in Mumoni, Mwingi North Constituency, Kitui County.Addressing mourners, Musyoka condemned recent tribal remarks made by Cabinet Secretary Aden Duale stating that both Duale and Hassan Omar are unfit to hold public office and should resign.He further stated that State House must remain a symbol of national unity and service to all Kenyans and not a centre for cartels or division.The Azimio leader also warned against the continued cases of abductions, saying such actions must come to an end.On the Ol Kalou by-election Musyoka said the results have set the tone for future elections and clearly demonstrated the will of the people.

Principal Secretary for Public Health, Mary Muthoni has called on the youth to maintain peace before, during and after the upcoming general election.Speaking during the Kamba Business Connect event at a hotel in Machakos town, Muthoni said peace is key to development and business growth.She also warned youth against drug and substance abuse, saying it destroys their lives and future.On health, the PS urged Kenyans to register with the government’s SHA health insurance scheme to enable them access medical treatment easily and without hassle.She added that the government has set aside funds and everyone should take advantage of the opportunity to benefit.
