Did you know Uganda is home to one of Africa's highest altitude training tracks? 🇺🇬

Just outside Kapchorwa, the Teryet National High Altitude Training Centre sits at approximately 2,555 metres above sea level, making it an ideal environment for endurance athletes. The facility features a World Athletics-certified 400m track and a 3km jogging loop designed specifically for middle and long-distance training.

But what makes this place special isn't the track itself.
It's everything around it.

These are the same landscapes that have helped shape athletes such as Joshua Cheptegei, Jacob Kiplimo, Peruth Chemutai, and Stephen Kiprotich.

For us, Kapchorwa is more than a training destination.
It's a place where you can experience the culture, community, and environment that continue to produce some of the world's greatest runners.

A place every running enthusiast should experience at least once.

🏃🏾 Running tip #01: Never skip the warm-up.

Many runners focus on the workout.
The best runners focus on what happens before it.

A proper warm-up:
✓ Increases blood flow to your muscles
✓ Improves mobility and range of motion
✓ Prepares your body for faster running
✓ Reduces the risk of injury

You'll often see runners begin with an easy jog, dynamic movements, and a few strides before the real session starts.

Because your first kilometer shouldn't be your warm-up.
Your warm-up should prepare you for your first kilometer.

Start with the basics. Your body will thank you later. 👊🏾

We believe running is one of the best ways to experience a place.

Sometimes that means a village road.
Sometimes a mountain trail.
And sometimes... a conservancy.

Because not every race is about chasing a finish line.

Some races are about discovering landscapes, connecting with communities, and seeing a destination in a way few people ever will.

Would you run a race through a conservancy? 👀🏃🏾

Not just experiences.
Not just events.

Building something worth running towards.

Iten. For most of the world, it's known as the home of champions.
A place of records. Of medals. Of extraordinary runners.

But what do we actually know about the people behind those achievements?

The families. The communities. The dreams. The challenges.
The stories that rarely make it beyond the finish line.

Our team has been in Iten listening, learning, and asking questions.

Not because we're building another running project.
Because we're building understanding.

This is the beginning of Project ONEKANA.

And yes, we're still building 👀

Sunday runs mean like-minded people coming together for an easy run.

And yes…
easy also means finally catching up after a long week and yapping the whole way. 😅

Because sometimes the best part of running isn’t the pace.
It’s the company.

Sometimes, the dirtier the shoes…
the more you explored. 🌍

Not every road takes you straight to the finish line.
Sometimes the best stories start when you get a little lost.

That’s at least how we see it.

Luckily, East African runners have mastered two things:
running fast… and turning shoes in a concerning condition back into looking brand new overnight. 😅

(For those wondering: yes, the shoes survived. A little bath and suddenly they acted like nothing happened.)

Some views remind you:
there is more beyond the finish line. 🌍

It’s the people you meet.
The stories you hear.
The places your legs carry you.

That’s who we are.
And those are the experiences we want to share with you.

Your trusted East-African running friend ✨

MEET LEE, our Rafiki wa njia.
Literally means: “friend of the road” in Swahili.
And if there’s anyone you’d want beside you while discovering the routes around Kilimanjaro, it’s probably him.

Born and raised in Moshi, Lee started running in 2020 simply to meet people. Fast forward: he accidentally became a sub-3 marathon runner 😭 (2:50 to be exact).

But his best quality? Not the pace.

It’s the way he shows up: curious, kind, and with the kind of local knowledge that makes you think, wait… people actually run here?!

His favourite thing about running:
"Running connects me with many good people."

We think that explains RAIFIKI RUNNERS LTD quite well too.

Get ready to share some miles with Lee, because every good adventure needs a local friend.
