Do you want to borrow my brain?
My name is Shaney Crawford and I am in training to be a coach. I am looking for people who would like to "think in partnership" with me.
I specialize in conversations with people in leadership roles, including middle leaders, people who work in education, people who live in Japan, workaholics, perfectionists, and people who tend to overthink things. Of course, anyone who wants help moving their thinking forward is welcome to borrow my brain.
You can read a bit more about me here:

My coaching sessions are free until December, and then I will be transitioning to a "pay what you want" system in January.
If you are interested in working with me, please fill out this form and I will send you a booking link.

I have opened up my calendar for coaching appointments in September. If you want to give coaching a try, please let me know and I will send you the link for setting up an appointment.
Some people have asked me what coaching is. It's basically just a conversation about something that interests you. It's usually about something that you have been thinking about and want to get some clarity on. It can be about a transition that is about to happen, or that you want to make happen, such as a move or a career change. It can also be about your own productivity. Or about an upcoming event or project that you want to talk through with an objective person. Anything that you want to think about is fair game for coaching.
My role in the conversation is to help you gain insights into whatever it is you bring to me. I try to listen and observe very carefully and reflect your ideas back to you so you can see them more clearly and then make better decisions based on what you learn about yourself. I try not to give advice from my own perspective (unless you ask me to specifically), but rather try to help you see the solution for yourself, and figure out how to take the next step towards it. You, as the thinker, are considered to be the world's leading authority on "YOU", and therefore the best person to be making decisions about your own "stuff" (whatever it is that you bring to the conversation)!
It is a really neat process, and it has to be experienced to be understood. If you are at all curious about this, I encourage you to set up an appointment so you can feel what it is like to be coached. I have been coached many times during my training and I come away with new and insightful understandings about my "stuff" every single time. It's quite transformational.

I would like to say a huge thank you to the people who signed up for my coaching sessions in July. I thought there might be one or two people willing to be coached by me, but there were twelve in total and I was able to do ten appointments between July 17 and 29. I learned so much from these sessions, and I found them interesting and invigorating. They helped me decide that I definitely do want to continue coaching, and I am also feeling even more excited about continuing with my training in September. I want to keep learning and practicing so I can be of more service to the people who come to me as a "thinking partner".
There were three major themes that emerged from the content of the sessions in July: transitions (thinking about moving, changing jobs), productivity, and reining in "the overwhelm" when starting up a new project. These are very interesting topics to me, and they are great subjects for coaching. I hope I was able to help the thinkers gain some insights into their own thinking and figure out how to take action (if that is what they want to do).
I will be opening up some new appointments in August soon, so if you are curious about coaching and/or you are interested in being coached by me, please send me a private message with your email address and I will let you know when the schedule is available.
Thank you again for all of your support in this! 💙

For the past year or so, I've been learning about coaching and I have now started practicing what I have learned on real live people! I still have a lifetime of things to learn about this whole field, but a journey of a thousand miles starts with one step, so here is the one step that I am taking now.
I'm now ready to start offering pro bono (free) coaching sessions.
Why would a person want to be coached?
Coaching is different from mentoring, and it's different from therapy. It's a conversation between two people that is focused on one of the people (the "thinker"). It is forward-focused, and it helps the thinker take the next right step in whatever they are trying to do. A coaching session can focus on a problem the thinker is facing, but it can also be focused on a situation that the thinker wants to think about or reflect on. It can be about a person, a behaviour, or a situation, for example. It can be about a feeling or something that the thinker has been pondering for a long time and can't seem to make good progress on. A coaching session is co-created by the thinker and the coach in the moment, so whatever the thinker wants to bring to the session, or doesn't want to bring, is fine.
It's a low-pressure way to have a conversation that will help you think, and maybe also help you decide to act.
My job as your coach is to help you think about whatever you want to think about. That's the basic dynamic, and the topic can be anything from family life, to your studies or your career, to leadership, to relationships or friendships, etc. Really any area of your life that you want to do some good thinking about is fair game for coaching!
That is how I would define coaching, but it really needs to be experienced to be understood fully.
I want to go slow and build in lots of time for reflection, so I am planning to only take a few appointments per week. Each appointment will be set to last 25 minutes, but if we think we need more time, we can agree to extend it to up to 50 minutes.
How to book an appointment:
If you are interested in being coached by me (or finding out more -- also free!), please send me a private message (PM) here in FB or in LinkedIn, or send an email to paisleypeers[at]gmail.com. I will then send you a link to book an appointment in my calendar.
If you want to refer someone to me, please share this post with them, or send them the above email address and ask them to contact me there.
I am planning to offer sessions for free for a few months and then transition to paid appointments by the end of 2023 as I build up my experience and understanding.
If you have any questions, comments, or concerns, please let me know! I'm here for you!
