Sometimes the best feedback is hearing, “We want to come back.” 🚲🌿

They visited Aso during Silver Week — one of Japan’s busiest travel periods — but their day with us felt very different.

Quiet backroads. Mountain scenery. E-bikes that made the climbs enjoyable. Time to stop, talk and explore. And, of course, a very memorable local soba lunch.

What meant the most to us was what they noticed afterwards: the little things. Having the right gear ready, choosing roads away from the crowds, sharing our local knowledge, and taking photos and videos so they could simply enjoy the ride.

Their words at the end said everything:

“We are already planning to come back and do another ride.”

That’s exactly the kind of Aso experience we hope to create.

You can rent a bike and explore Aso on your own. 🚲

But a guided ride is something different.

We take you along the routes we know and love — through forests, grasslands and volcanic landscapes, with special stops, local stories and plenty of time to enjoy the scenery. 🌋

We adapt the ride to your pace, stop for the moments worth remembering, and take photos along the way so you can simply enjoy the experience. 📸

And hopefully, we laugh a lot too. 😄

He came to Mount Aso as an 11-year-old on holiday.
He left with his first big cycling adventure. 🚲⛰️

Dad and son travelled from Korea to Kumamoto with our half-day Mount Aso cycling experience as one of the main adventures of their trip. 🇰🇷🇯🇵

And what a ride it became.

From quiet forest roads to climbs, descents and the wide-open grasslands of Aso, this young rider kept going — and kept smiling.

But this wasn’t about how fast they could ride or how many kilometres they could complete.

It was about doing something together.

Stopping to watch the cattle.
Taking photos of the views.
Encouraging each other through the ups and downs.
And sharing that feeling of “We did it!” at the end.

When families ride with us, we pay close attention to riding experience, ability and pace. Every family is different, and our priority is helping our guests experience Aso comfortably and safely.

And apparently every great cycling adventure should finish with ice cream. 🍦😄

An 11-year-old’s first Mount Aso cycling adventure 🚲🌋

We recently had a lovely father and son visiting Kumamoto from Korea 🇰🇷🇯🇵, and their half-day cycling experience in Mount Aso was one of the main activities they had planned for their trip.

His son is only 11, but what a rider! 💪 From forest roads and ups and downs to the wide-open grasslands of Aso, he kept going and seemed to enjoy every part of the adventure.

For families travelling with children, we know one of the biggest questions is always: “Can my child manage this?”

Every child and family is different, so we look at riding experience and ability and adjust the pace accordingly. Safety and making sure everyone can actually enjoy the experience come first.

And yes… after all that cycling, ice cream was definitely deserved. 🍦😄

11 years old. His first big cycling adventure. 🚲⛰️

A father and son travelled from Korea to Kumamoto, and their Mount Aso cycling adventure became one of the main experiences of their trip. 🇰🇷🇯🇵

There were climbs, descents, forest roads and wide-open Aso landscapes — and this young rider handled it brilliantly. 💪

What made us happiest wasn’t simply reaching the destination. It was watching father and son experience the journey together — stopping for the views, seeing the animals, encouraging each other, and enjoying every part of the ride.

For us, a great cycling tour isn’t about riding as fast or as far as possible.
It’s about choosing the right pace, taking care of our guests, and giving them the confidence to enjoy Aso safely.

And after all those ups and downs?

Ice cream tasted pretty good. 🍦😄

🍁 This is why we love hiking in autumn.

Cool mountain air, golden grasses, quiet trails, and hillsides slowly turning red, orange and gold.

Some days the clouds roll in, then suddenly move aside and reveal a completely different view. That’s part of the magic of being in the mountains.

For us, hiking isn’t only about reaching the top. It’s about slowing down, noticing the little things along the trail, sharing a laugh, and experiencing a side of Japan that many visitors never get to see.

Sometimes, seeing more simply means slowing down. 🚲🌾

When we explore Aso by bicycle, the journey between destinations is often just as interesting as the destinations themselves.

A rice field becomes more than scenery when you notice the farmer working through harvest season. A quiet road leads into a forest and a local shrine. Fresh water flowing through the landscape becomes part of the story of how people live here.

These are things you could easily pass by.

For us, guiding is not simply about showing you where to go. It’s about helping connect the places, people and stories you encounter along the way.

And sometimes, there’s no story needed at all — we stop because something catches our eye, take a silly photo, have a laugh, and keep riding. 😊

That’s the beauty of exploring Aso at bicycle speed.

What happens when you explore Aso without rushing from one sightseeing spot to the next? 🚲

During Silver Week, two sisters visiting from Canada joined us for a private cycling day.

We started directly from their accommodation and chose a route away from the busiest areas.

From there, we let the day unfold naturally.

Quiet roads beneath the trees. A local shrine. Mountain spring water. Farmers working during harvest season. Local food. And those little stops and conversations that help connect what you’re seeing with the people and landscape around you.

That’s what we love about exploring Aso by bicycle.

It’s not simply about getting from one attraction to another. It’s about slowing down enough to notice what’s in between—and having someone local to help tell the story behind it.
