With heavy hearts, we remember and honor Fanette Johnson.
Having taught yoga in New York and Paris before making Negril her home, Fanette was a beloved and enduring presence in the Negril yoga community. She shared her knowledge with extraordinary care, helping each of her students find greater strength, balance, flexibility, and inner calm. Her classes blended technical precision with warmth, encouraging students to pay closer attention to themselves, their breath, and the way they moved through the world.
Many who practiced with Fanette still carry her words with them years later. She had a gift for making simple observations feel profound, reminding us to slow down, breathe deeply, and move through life more mindfully. Students fondly remember her gentle corrections, her wisdom, and the lessons that extended far beyond the yoga mat. Whether in yoga or in life, she encouraged her students to find their edge with patience, awareness, and curiosity.
The loss of Fanette is felt deeply by all who had the privilege of knowing her. Though she is no longer with us, she lives on in the hearts of her students, friends, and all who were fortunate enough to learn from her.
She will be greatly missed, lovingly remembered, and forever a part of the community she helped shape.
Rest peacefully, Fanette.
One Love.
