Sometimes the niceness is the problem.

If being nice means hiding what you want, avoiding rejection, and hoping that being agreeable eventually earns you attraction… that’s not exactly a recipe for chemistry.

And no, the answer isn’t becoming an as***le. 😂

One of the hardest lessons I’ve learned is that love doesn’t always arrive in the form we want.

Some parents say, “I’m proud of you.”

Others never will.

But they drive you to the airport. They show up when you’re sick. They ask if you got home safely. They make your favourite meal when you visit.

We can spend our lives waiting for the perfect words and completely miss the imperfect ways people have been loving us all along.

That’s not about lowering your standards. It’s about expanding your definition of what love can look like.

Sometimes love is spoken. Sometimes it’s simply shown.

That hurts people who haven’t allowed themselves to go there yet.

So they judge it and attempt to tear you down.

Gay men grow up wanting approval and acceptance from straight men.

But in adult life…

A lot of straight men are quietly looking at gay men thinking:

“How are they so free?”

Free to express themselves as they see fit without playing by the same rigid rules around masculinity.

No, it’s not perfect in the gay world.

But it does make you wonder:

Are we chasing something they have…
while they’re craving something we’ve already built?

This isn’t a personal failure.
It’s something you learned.

The work isn’t to shame it…it’s to notice it.
