🔵 Just published: The Antarctica InSync Science Plan outlines a shared vision for advancing Antarctic research through coordinated, interdisciplinary science and strengthening international collaboration across institutions, disciplines, and nations.

Endorsed by the , Antarctica InSync is a global programme to synchronise research across Antarctica and the Southern Ocean, connecting ice, ocean, land, climate, and life to protect this vital region.

The Science Plan introduces the scientific and technological motivation and provides a roadmap to build an international programme for a coordinated field season in Antarctica and its surrounding seas. It lays out the international collaboration that is required to realise an ambitious action plan and the opportunities for the science community to address the seven important scientific themes that represent current knowledge gaps:

1️⃣ Southern Ocean physical and biogeochemical cycles in a changing climate
2️⃣ Rapid sea ice decline and its causes and consequences
3️⃣ Antarctic ice sheets and ice shelves: processes driving rapid change, from observation to prediction
4️⃣ Improving knowledge and protection of the unique Antarctic life: from land to ocean and into the deep sea
5️⃣ Anthropogenic signatures in Antarctica: the race against pollution and other pressures
6️⃣ Aerosol-cloud-precipitation interactions and radiative feedback
7️⃣ Variability, extremes, and tipping in a changing Antarctic climate
