The signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between the Cycling Federation of India (CFI) and the Jammu and Kashmir Sports Council marks a significant milestone in the development of cycling within the Union Territory. This agreement heralds the inauguration of Jammu’s first-ever Cyclothon, as well as the region’s inaugural CFI National Ranking Event, scheduled for May.
The event will bring together India’s finest male and female cyclists to compete for podium positions in what promises to be a prestigious national-level competition. It represents another important chapter in the steady expansion of cycling’s footprint across the country.
The MOU was formally signed at the office of the Secretary of the Jammu and Kashmir Sports Council. Representing the Cycling Federation of India was Maninder Pal Singh, Secretary General of the CFI. On behalf of the Jammu and Kashmir Sports Council, the signatory was Ms Nuzhat Gul, Secretary of the JKSC, Government of Jammu and Kashmir.
The ceremony was attended by S. Ravinder Singh, Chairman of the JK Cycling Association, Om Prakash Sharma, Secretary, S. S. S. Gill, Member, along with other officials and members from both the JK Cycling Association and the Jammu and Kashmir Sports Council.
This landmark collaboration is expected to elevate the standard of competitive cycling in Jammu and Kashmir while providing a platform for local talent to engage with the national cycling community.
