🥋 Today, 30th August 2026, JKA Zen Shoto Karate Academy successfully conducted its Half-Yearly KYU Grading Examination 2026 at Sujala Club Dojo, Howrah.

We were truly honoured and delighted to welcome Pradeep Sharma Sensei as our Guest Instructor & Examiner.

It was a particularly special and memorable occasion for our students, as Pradeep Sharma Sensei returned to ZSKA as an Examiner after a long time. The students were extremely excited and enthusiastic to appear for their KYU examination under his guidance and, most importantly, to have the opportunity to learn directly from his valuable experience and technical knowledge.

After the KYU Grading, Sensei conducted a highly informative and technically enriching session, sharing important guidance and valuable insights related to Karate training, technical development and performance.

One of the most significant highlights of today's programme was the first-ever Table Officials Training Class conducted at JKA Zen Shoto Karate Academy by Pradeep Sharma Sensei.

In a JKA Championship, Judges play an extremely important role in maintaining the standard and fairness of competition. At the same time, Table Officials have an equally important responsibility in ensuring that a championship is conducted smoothly, systematically and according to JKA Rules.

Understanding the importance of developing properly trained and knowledgeable Table Officials, Pradeep Sharma Sensei conducted a dedicated training session for our senior/adult students.

The session provided valuable practical knowledge about the responsibilities, discipline, procedures and technical aspects required to serve as Table Officials in future JKA Championships.

It was a first-of-its-kind initiative at ZSKA, and the session proved to be extremely useful and educational for everyone who participated.

We sincerely hope that this initiative will help us develop a stronger team of trained Table Officials who will be able to contribute effectively to future JKA Championships and help maintain the highest standards of organisation and discipline.

Congratulations to Swarnavo Sengupta for winning a Silver Medal in Kata and Aahan Koley for winning Silver Medals in both Kata and Kumite. Your hard work, dedication, and fighting spirit have made us proud.

A sincere thank you to JKAWF INDIA Odisha, all organizers, officials, judges, volunteers, and supporting staff for conducting such a wonderful and well-organized national-level event. Special appreciation for the valuable training camp conducted by Takahashi Sensei, which provided great learning opportunities for all participants.

🥋 Yesterday, the 1st Term KYU Grading Examination of JKA ZSKA was successfully conducted with great discipline and enthusiasm at our Shantiniketan JKA Zen Shoto Karate Academy Dojo.

We were honored to have Gokul Chandra Dutta Sensei as the Examiner and Guest Instructor for the grading. The entire examination was carried out smoothly and in a highly professional manner. After the grading, Sensei took time to provide valuable technical corrections and guidance, helping students understand their mistakes and improve their techniques in the right direction.

We are proud to announce that Debarati Pal, a student of Shantiniketan Academy, was recognized as the Best KYU Grading Performer of the day. Her performance was highly appreciated, and the examiner was very pleased. 👏

Overall, the entire event turned into a wonderful and enjoyable experience for all.

We extend our heartfelt thanks to Gokul Chandra Dutta Sensei for his presence, evaluation, and valuable guidance.
