Self-trust isn’t built in the big decisions. Those come with advice, research, and other people’s opinions to
lean on.
It’s built in the ones nobody sees. The small yes or no you give when you’re alone with a choice and
there’s no one to consult.
Every time you override that instinct for comfort, for peace, for someone else’s ease your mind logs it. Not
as a mistake.
As data: my judgment isn’t reliable.
Do that enough times and it stops feeling like a pattern. It starts feeling like a personality trait.
“I’m just not a decisive person.

You are. The evidence just got overwritten by other people’s certainty for so long that your own stopped
registering as valid. This is how people-pleasing quietly erodes self-worth not in one dramatic moment,
but in a hundred small decision-making moments where you chose everyone else’s comfort over your
own nervous system.
Confidence isn’t a mood you wait to feel. It’s a track record you’re either building or eroding, one small
decision at a time.

You can love someone and still let them have a feeling you do not rush to change. If you grew up monitoring other people’s moods, relational tension may register in your body as danger:

Their mood shifts → your body detects threat → urgency or guilt rises → you fix, explain or appease → tension reduces → your brain learns that rescuing creates safety.

That short-term relief reinforces carrying. Use this when:
• Your partner becomes quiet
• A parent sounds disappointed
• Your child is upset after a boundary
• A friend repeatedly brings you the same crisis

Try this progression:
1. Notice the impulse to rescue.
2. Locate the reaction - tight chest, racing thoughts, restless body.
3. Name what is actually happening: “I’m not scared for them right now. I’m scared of how their mood feels in my body.”
4. Let the activation settle before deciding what support is genuinely yours to offer.

Compassion does not require control. Someone can be disappointed and you can still be loving.

This may initially feel cold because your body confuses non-interference with abandonment. It is not detachment. It is allowing another person to own their feelings and their next step.

Where do you carry most - with your partner, parents, children or friends?

Sometimes the argument stops being about what was said - and becomes about what their response makes you believe about yourself.

Are you listening to understand, or listening while protecting your worth?

Comment “PATTERN” and I’ll send you the three questions that tell you which one you’re actually looking at.

Indian women are taught to protect relationships, even when relationships stop protecting them.

“Adjust kar lo.”
“Log kya kahenge?”
“A good woman doesn’t give up so easily.”

That conditioning can follow you from India to London, Dubai or Toronto. A new country doesn’t automatically create new boundaries.

Panic is not proof. It only tells you they don’t want this to end, not that anything changes after you stay.

If a relationship survives through your people pleasing, silence and self abandonment, that isn’t healthy love.

You weren’t “too trusting.” You were trained to ignore the pattern.

The reel showed the moment. Here’s the mechanism: your gut clocks the inconsistency in real time. But if noticing was ever punished as badtameezi or overreacting, your nervous system learned that naming the pattern costs more than tolerating it. So it does the only thing left. It buries the read and calls it confusion.

Research links chronic self silencing to elevated stress markers. The body that swallows every no doesn’t forget it. It just stops telling you clearly.

One thing to try:
→ Name the pattern out loud, even just to yourself
→ Not “maybe he’s stressed.” Say what actually happened, plainly

Send this to the woman still waiting for “this time will be different.”

If you’re ready to stop overriding what you already know, book a START session. Link in bio.

Why You Ignore Red Flags.

You weren’t “too hopeful.” You were trained to call it adjusting.

In our homes, boundaries were “zyaada sochti hai.” So you learned to walk carefully through your own life skip the broken step instead of asking anyone to fix it.
Confusion is not the absence of an answer. It’s the pain of accepting the one you already have.

The pattern was never subtle. You were just fluent in stepping around it.

If you’re ready to stop adjusting, that’s what we’re here for.
