Another thank you/acknowledgement. (They'll probably kill me for this!) Tommy Murphy and David Boyce. Thanks to Tommy's tireless work as secretary and these two picking up in Coolattin for literally decades, we were able to run two great trials again this season.
Tommy and David have also both had successful seasons with their dogs. Both are qualified for the 2026 Retriever Championship and David made his young bitch up last weekend.
Here's a pick of them doing what they do best. David giving orders to nobody in particular and Tommy getting the job done!

We want to take a minute to say a sincere thank you to Jim Perry, for giving up his time to mark and help at both of our trials this season and at previous trials too. Jim's knowledge of, and experience in, the sport is vast and he always makes the day that bit more enjoyable. Thanks, Jim!

Our second trial was an open stake a couple of weeks ago, also in Coolattin. Our judges were Ger Murdock and Liam Brett. A very wet and cold day, so unfortunately my fingers were too cold to take pictures of the prizes!
Results were as follows;
1st - Ian Davis
2nd - Michael Corr.
Big congratulations to Ian Davis who made his bitch into a Field Trial Champion that day.

Recapping our season! We ran two trials this season, both in the mighty Coolattin Estate by kind permission of the Dowling family. Our first trial was a novice stake in October 25, judged by David Boyce, Hazel Murphy and Ruby Boyce. Results were as follows;
1st - David Quigley
2nd - Harry Gillanders
3rd - David Nolan
4th - Mary Murray.
You'll have to forgive me, I don't have the dogs kennel names to hand!

Looking forward to our novice trial tomorrow. Huge thanks to Tommy Murphy for all his hard work organising the day. See you all there!

Delighted to share the details of our upcoming novice stake on 18th October. Please send your entries sooner rather than later to avoid disappointment. Sincere thanks to the Dowling family for facilitating our trial.

WRGC ran a sixteen dog open stake for A.V retriever and I.W.S on 18th January. The day began with a moment of silence to mark the recent passing of one of the founding members of the club, James (Jim) Mulhall.
We would like to sincerely thank the landowners, guns, beaters/pickers up, judges, markers and competitors who made the day such a success. Our judges were Declan McCarthy (A), Hazel Murphy (A) and Andrew Rooney (B).
The results were as follows;
1. Michael Corr with Ringbarn Fletchling.
2. Thomas Hughes with Iroquois Prince.
3. Antony Mc Cabe with Duke Daydream.
4. David Quigley (Harkeel Gundogs) with Harkeel Megs.
Well done to all.
