Courtown Hibs Football For All Program - specifically designed to support soccer players with additional needs. Our new season will kick off on Friday 18th of September at the following times:

4pm - 4:45pm ages 4-6 years
5pm-6pm ages 7-12 years

Our new age group for this season will be 6pm - 7pm ages 13-17 years. We are looking for all new players at this age group.

Please note we can also slot children in to different age groups based on their own personal requirements and abilities.

New players are always welcome! Please come and try any Friday from the 18th of September with the exception of school holidays.

Courtown Run Club are holding their 1st Run event on 13th September.

They would love to community to get involved and are looking for as many parents and kids as possible to volunteer and help out on the day — marshalling, water stations, medals, start/finish area and lots more.

Courtown Hibs FC Statement

Courtown Hibs FC has today received confirmation from the representatives of the women’s team that they have decided not to pursue the entry of a competitive women’s team for the coming season. This is a deeply disappointing outcome for everyone involved, particularly given the efforts made to find a pathway forward.

The correspondence received refers to the meeting having arisen following the recent social media post. While it was acknowledged during discussions that the post prompted the meeting, it is important to clarify that the committee did not act simply in response to public pressure.

The meeting was convened primarily to address a public narrative that did not accurately reflect the full circumstances surrounding the original decision or the values of Courtown Hibs FC. It also provided an opportunity for the representatives of the women’s team to put forward their position and for both sides to explore whether a workable pathway could be found.

Importantly, an independent representative attended the meeting as a neutral party, having had no prior involvement in or knowledge of the discussions or issues between the two sides. Their role was to observe the meeting and provide an independent perspective on what took place.

The meeting was open and constructive, with both sides given the opportunity to outline their concerns and positions. The independent representative confirmed that the concerns raised by both sides were acknowledged and understood and that both parties left the meeting with an understanding that a pathway had been established to allow a competitive women’s team to enter with Courtown Hibs for the coming season.

The club approached that meeting constructively and in good faith. Following those discussions, a framework was established to allow a competitive women’s team to enter with Courtown Hibs. The club also secured an extension to the league entry deadline to Friday, 21st August, specifically to allow additional time for the team to be formed and the necessary arrangements to be put in place.

As part of that agreed pathway, the women’s team representatives were to provide their proposed panel of players to the committee so that the team could be submitted before the extended deadline. Unfortunately, that panel was not received.

The standards and expectations outlined were consistent with those applied to all competitive teams within Courtown Hibs and were intended to ensure fairness, accountability and equal treatment across the club. The committee therefore does not accept the suggestion that exceptional or unreasonable conditions were imposed.

Courtown Hibs FC also wishes to be absolutely clear that we refute any narrative that portrays our club as anything other than an inclusive club, committed to equality and providing a level playing field and equal opportunity for all of our members and teams. Our club has always welcomed players, coaches, volunteers and families from all backgrounds, and our commitment to equality and inclusion remains fundamental to who we are.

The decisions made by the club are made by a committee of volunteers who give their time freely and who have a responsibility to make decisions in the best interests of Courtown Hibs FC and its members as a whole. Such decisions are not taken lightly, nor are they made on the basis of gender or any other discriminatory consideration.

It is particularly regrettable that, despite the considerable public support expressed for the continuation of the team and the pathway that was subsequently made available, the concerns originally raised by the committee regarding the viability and sustainability of the team were ultimately not resolved.

The club respects the decision made by the players and representatives, but we also believe it is important that the wider Courtown Hibs community understands that every reasonable effort was made to provide an opportunity for a competitive women’s team to continue.

Courtown Hibs remains extremely proud of the history of our women’s team and of everyone who has contributed to it over the past 21 years. We are equally proud of our thriving schoolgirls’ section and deeply grateful to the coaches, volunteers and families who dedicate so much time to its continued development.

Courtown Hibs FC remains fully committed to schoolgirls’ and women’s football, as we have been throughout. We will continue to provide footballing opportunities for people of all ages and abilities across every section of our club, and we are confident that, in the not-too-distant future, a competitive women’s team will once again represent Courtown Hibs.

We sincerely thank everyone who contacted the club privately, sought to understand the full circumstances and offered their support during what has been a difficult period.

We would also like to wish all of the women, coaches and families the very best for the future and sincerely thank them for the time, commitment and work they have given to Courtown Hibs and women’s football over the years.

Our focus now remains on the future of Courtown Hibs FC and continuing to build a club that provides opportunities for everyone in our community.

SADS Awareness

Sudden Adult Death Syndrome (SADS) is a term used when someone dies suddenly and unexpectedly from a cardiac arrest, often with no previous warning or known heart condition.

In Ireland, around 100 young people under 35 die suddenly each year, and many of these deaths are linked to inherited or undiagnosed heart conditions.

⚽️ As a sporting community, awareness matters.

Please take symptoms seriously, including:
• Unexplained fainting or collapse, particularly during exercise
• Chest pain or unusual breathlessness during exercise
• Racing, pounding or irregular heartbeat
• A family history of unexplained sudden death or inherited heart conditions

Knowing the signs, getting concerns checked, and having CPR and an AED (defibrillator) readily available can save a life.

Sudden arrhythmic death syndrome (SADS) - Irish Heart The most important “symptom” of SADS is your family history. If you have a family member who passed away unexpectedly from a presumed heart cause under the age of 40 (and your doctors have recommended family heart check-ups), make sure you follow up on this and get checked.

We were delighted to welcome Home Farm FC to Ounavarra Park today for a pre-season friendly with our U18 Girls. A great game played in excellent spirits, with some brilliant football on display from both teams. Thanks to Home Farm for making the trip down to us. 👏⚽

Before kick-off, both teams and everyone in attendance observed a moment’s silence in memory of Robbie Ireton, Abigail’s grandfather and a huge supporter of Courtown Hibs over many years, and Aoibheann Clarke, whose tragic passing has been deeply felt throughout the soccer and GAA communities in Wexford.

Aoibheann was a similiar age as many of the girls who took to the pitch today, with a number of them having had the privilege of sharing a football pitch with her over the years. Her loss is particularly poignant for young players across our local sporting community.

Our thoughts are with both families at this incredibly difficult time.

Thank you to the players, coaches and supporters from both clubs for observing the tribute so respectfully.

Following the considerable outpouring of support for the women who have expressed a wish to play competitive football with Courtown Hibs for the coming season, the Courtown Hibs Committee met this evening to discuss the matter in full.

Following that discussion, the Committee has agreed to invite representatives of the women involved to a meeting tomorrow evening.

The intention of this meeting is to provide an opportunity for both sides to sit down together, discuss the situation openly and respectfully, and establish whether an agreement can be reached that would allow a women's team to be entered for the coming season.

The Committee recognises the strength of feeling and support that has been shown over the past number of days and believes that a constructive meeting is the best way to move matters forward.

We sincerely hope that tomorrow evening’s discussion can result in a positive outcome for everyone involved and, most importantly, provide a pathway for the women who wish to represent Courtown Hibs competitively in the coming season.
