Feel it on the first

I struggled so much after cancer, especially mentally.

I became very good at burying things. Pushing feelings down, carrying on, staying busy and telling myself I was okay. I think sometimes you become so focused on getting through something that you don’t realise just how much you’re carrying until, years later, it starts to surface.

And lately, a lot has surfaced.

I’m finding myself having to face emotions I’ve kept buried for a very long time. Some days I don’t even know how to put them into words, and honestly, I’m not going to go into depth about everything. But I’m learning that I don’t have to explain everything to acknowledge that I’m struggling.

I need to do better at allowing myself to feel things instead of always trying to be strong. I need to learn how to handle my emotions rather than hide them. And I’m slowly learning that healing isn’t always about what happens in the body — sometimes there is a whole other kind of healing that needs to happen in your mind and your heart.

Cancer changed me in ways I don’t think I ever truly dealt with.

And there are people and things that will always stay with me.

Trina, you are always on my mind. ❤️

I’m sharing this because I know I’m not the only person who has buried things just to survive. Sometimes the strongest thing we can do is finally admit that we’re not okay, even when we don’t have the words to explain why.

And then there’s September… my birthday month. ❤️

Another trip around the moon. 🌙✨

And despite everything, I am so incredibly grateful to be here. Grateful for another year, another chance, another chapter, and for all the people who continue to walk beside me.

Maybe this next year is about doing things a little differently — feeling instead of burying, talking instead of bottling things up, and giving myself the same kindness and compassion I so freely give to others.

Here’s to another trip around the moon. 🌙
And to learning that surviving is only the beginning. ❤️

, 🦁✨ Our latest Rare Warriors adventure! ✨🦁
What a lovely morning we had on our latest field trip to Lioness Aerial Fitness , followed by a very important stop at McDonald's for a little treat! 🍟❤️
Big smiles, lots of fun, plenty of laughter and, most importantly, families spending time together. 🥰
And honestly… this is what it’s all about. ❤️
Living with rare disease can mean a life filled with uncertainty. Tests, scans, hospital appointments, specialists, therapies, referrals, waiting lists and constantly having to learn and navigate your child’s care through a system that can often feel incredibly difficult and exhausting.
Behind every rare diagnosis is a family learning to live with uncertainty while fighting for the best possible care, opportunities and quality of life for their child. Sometimes parents become their child’s biggest advocate, researcher, coordinator and voice — all while simply trying to be a parent. 💜
That’s why, at Rare Warriors Wexford, we want to create something different too.
We want our families to have opportunities to just be families.
To have fun.
To make memories.
To try new things.
To enjoy little treats.
To see their children smile.
And to spend time with other families who get it without having to explain every part of their journey. ❤️
We work hard to organise fun, accessible and inclusive activities for our rare families because connection matters. Knowing you’re not alone matters.
Rare disease can sometimes feel isolating, but together we can create a community where families feel supported, understood and included. 💜
A huge thank you to Lioness Aerial Fitness for helping us create such a brilliant morning, and of course to McDonald’s for the very important post-activity treats! 😋🍟
Another morning of memories made, friendships strengthened and big rare smiles all around. 🥰
This is Rare Warriors Wexford.
Supporting rare families, creating connections and making memories along the way. 💜

Megan/ Waterford Aerial Hoop 🦁💙

Since joining Lioness Aerial Fitness in 2022 as a student, my journey with aerial arts has become such an important part of my life. I started my journey with pole, which I instantly fell in love with, and later discovered a passion for aerial hoop, through working with the kids at Lioness.

This incredible community has helped me to build confidence, feel strong and express myself in ways I never thought I could. Lioness has given me so much more than a place to train - it has given me a safe, supportive and welcoming space where I am free to be myself.

As an aerial hoop instructor, I want my classes to be a place where everyone feels supported, encouraged and comfortable to be themselves, regardless of their experience or ability. Aerial has had such a positive impact on my confidence and sense of self, and it is incredibly rewarding to help others discover that same feeling of freedom, strength, creativity and joy through aerial arts.

Maria/ Wexford studio 🦁💜

My journey with aerial started as a student, at a time when I needed something that was completely for me. I first stepped into an aerial class as a way of helping my mental health, never imagining that it would eventually become such a huge part of my life.

What started as something to help me feel stronger and more confident gradually became a passion. Aerial gave me a place to switch off from everything else, challenge myself, make friends and discover a side of myself I didn’t know was there.

Over time, I fell completely in love with aerial and began my journey into teaching. I now specialise in aerial hammock, aerial hoop and children’s aerial classes. Teaching children is a particularly special part of what I do. I love watching them grow in confidence, learn new skills and realise that they are capable of much more than they first thought.

My aim is to create a fun, encouraging and supportive environment where children and adults can be themselves, try new things and celebrate every achievement, no matter how big or small.

Nina | Lioness Waterford Instructor 🦁

Nina is a Brazilian dance teacher with over 15 years of experience and an honours degree in Contemporary Dance. Movement has always been a huge part of her life, but after years of teaching on solid ground, she discovered a whole new passion — upside down! 🤸‍♀️

Finding pole reignited her love for movement in a completely different way. She loves the combination of strength, grace, creativity and, of course, a little bit of sass! 💃✨

We are blessed to have Nina as part of the Lioness Waterford team, sharing her passion for movement and helping women discover just how strong, capable and powerful they can be. 🦁❤️

Pole isn’t just about what your body can do — it’s about confidence, expression and having fun while you discover what you’re capable of.
