Our u14s took a little break from training this week & headed to Casey Recovery & Performance for a recovery session in preparation for their upcoming Div 4 County final.
Thanks to Seamus for looking after us so well. Itwas a great experience for the girls & they all enjoyed it 🩷💚

The season ended for the U14 Division 6 girls with a disappointing loss in the Shield Final on Friday evening, Buffers Alley coming to Clonard with a very strong performance.
A young Clon/Vols team were under pressure straight from the off as Buffers Alley added the finishing product that the home team was lacking. The early exchanges were back and forth, but the ball failed to stick when the Clon/Vols reached the full forward line. Buffers Alley finally broke the deadlock with a fortuitous goal from a free, despite the best efforts of Hannah Kinsella, who despite the concession was in great form in goals.
This lead to a sustained period of pressure that saw the away team lead at the half.
The second half was a much closer affair, the Clon/Vols fullback line strengthened by the arrival of Anna Isadell to support Charlie Moriarty Kenny & the excellent Roisin Scallan. The energy and running of Saoirse Staunton kept Clon/Vols in contention & quick points from Charlie Dempsey, Amber Quigley & Ruby Walsh put little more gloss on the result but the gap proved too much at the end. The girls giving their all right to the final whistle of their last game of the year 🩷💚
Congratulations to Buffers Alley, Div 6 Shield winners 👏

The end season for the U14s is in site but thankfully they still have one more big day out, a Co final to contest in September against St Patrick’s.
The way they reached the big day could not have been more dramatic as they pipped a heretofore undefeated Kilmore by the minimum in a pulsating encounter on Wednesday evening. Despite being the away side the CV girls started much the brighter & dominated the early exchanges, however worryingly they didn’t make their dominance show on the score board & only had 3 points to show for their efforts when a blistering Kilmore counter attack found the back of the net. This was then quickly followed by a Kilmore point to steady the home team and put them in front. Further trouble seemed to be coming when start midfielder Layla O’Rourke left the field after a heavy tackle. Soon after Kilmore were awarded a penalty. This proved to be the wake up call the Clon/Vols needed though. The penalty, and the rebound were both turned away by Ellie May Murphy to ensure the bare minimum remained between the teams. The two inspired stops were just examples of what was to come from the young net minder as she turned away the home team time after time with an inspired showing. The saves steadied the team and girls got back on the front foot to edge ahead at half time.
The opening exchanges of the second half seemed to be swaying the game in favour of the home team as they put away four unanswered points to take a 3 point lead into the final stages. CV matched the home team in effort & endevour but couldn’t get the scores that the home team kept finding until a brilliant run by Kyra Murphy found the back of the Kilmore net to level the game. This was quickly followed with a point to put CV in front. The brave Kilmore girls threw everything into the quest for the equaliser and almost found a winner only to be thwarted again by Ellie May Murphy. The final few minutes were waves of Kilmore attacks being turned away by the CV defense marshaled by Captain Annie Mc The Fullback, before one final amazing tackle from Lilly Murphy put the lid on an absolutely enthralling encounter that in reality neither team deserved to lose 👏 🩷💚
