A special cup for a special lady 💙🫶🏻✨

More Than a Cup❤️‍🩹💫

A week has passed since Delvin Camogie won the Junior Championship, a cup that was lovingly named the Liz Cahil Cup. And to be honest, it took me a while to truly find the words this cup meant. Even now, the words don't seem enough.

There are days in sport that stay with you long after the final whistle, and the final was one of those days.
Delvin Camogie were incredibly proud to win the Liz Cahill Cup, but the most meaningful moment came when the cup was placed into our players’ hands by Liz’s two young boys.
For a few moments, it wasn’t really about winning at all.

It was about Liz. About remembering a much-loved mam, friend and member of a community whose name and memory continue to live on. It was about two young boys standing proudly with a cup bearing their mam’s name, surrounded by people determined to make sure she is never forgotten.

Sport has a wonderful way of bringing people together, even if its against our warrior neighbours of Brownstown💙🤍🫶, but sometimes it does something even more important. It gives us a way to remember, to honour and to carry someone with us.

We feel enormously privileged that Delvin’s name will now sit alongside Liz’s on this cup. That day we brought home a trophy, but we also brought home a memory that will stay with us for a very long time.
The Liz Cahill Cup. Won with pride. Received with love. And lifted in memory of Liz. 🫶

Some names belong on trophies. Some names live forever in hearts. Liz’s does both. She would be so proud of the maturity and grace they held themselves.
