It is set to be an unmissable weekend of high-stakes representative rugby for Navan RFC, with five of our club’s standout players selected across three Leinster squads for their respective Interprovincial Championship deciders!

From senior silverware in Galway to Under 18 title showdowns in Dublin and Mullingar, our NRFC players continue to shine at the highest level.

Over the summer months, many of our Navan RFC players keep their fitness sharp and test their skills across various sporting pursuits. One fantastic example is Youth player Danny Farrell, who has taken up American Football with the West-Dublin Rhinos!

From Rugby to Gridiron: Danny Farrell Trades the Scrum for the Endzone | Navan Rugby Over the summer months, many of our Navan RFC players keep their fitness sharp and test their skills across various sporting pursuits. One fantastic example is Youth player Danny Farrell, who has taken up American Football with the West-Dublin Rhinos!.

There was huge club pride on display at SETU Carlow on Wednesday, 26th August, as an incredible ten Navan RFC youth players were selected in the Leinster North-East matchday squad for their opening clash of the BearingPoint Sarah Robinson Cup (Under-17 Girls).

Taking on a strong Leinster Midlands side, the North-East girls put in a thrilling performance, holding a 19-12 lead at the half-time break before eventually being edged out 40-31 in a high-scoring, entertaining encounter.

Navan RFC was proudly represented right across the forward pack and backline, with nine club members earning starting berths and one more providing crucial power off the bench and squad support.

Ten NRFC Players Feature in Sarah Robinson Cup Opener | Navan Rugby There was huge club pride on display at SETU Carlow on Wednesday, 26th August, as an incredible ten Navan RFC youth players were selected in the Leinster North-East matchday squad for their opening clash of the BearingPoint Sarah Robinson Cup (Under-17 Girls).

Navan RFC’s Men’s 1st XV secured their first victory of the 2026/27 season on Tuesday evening, putting on a clinical six-try display in a 38-23 win over County Meath rivals Ashbourne RFC at Balreask Old.

Despite the drizzling rain, a dedicated crowd gathered on the clubhouse terrace to roar the team on as Navan produced a blistering 20-minute spell in the first half to put the contest out of reach.

Navan Overcome Ashbourne in McGowan Cup Derby | Navan Rugby Navan RFC’s Men’s 1st XV secured their first victory of the 2026/27 season on Tuesday evening, putting on a clinical six-try display in a 38-23 win over County Meath rivals Ashbourne RFC at Balreask Old.

Congrats to 10 of our girls youth who are named in the squad for Leinster North East U17 Girls Sarah Robinson Squad this evening in Sarah Robinson Cup. They take on Midlands at 8pm tonight in SETU Carlow.

Very best of luck to Grace, Helena, Chloe, Robin, Clarissa, Abbiemae, Abigail, Aoibhe, Tessa & Cara.

Remembering Terry Asquith: Navan RFC Towns Cup Winner.

It is with great sadness that we mark the passing of former Navan RFC player Terry Asquith, who passed away peacefully on 24th July 2026.

Late of Burreen, Virginia, Co. Cavan and West Drayton, Middlesex, UK, Terry’s memory remains warmly etched in the history of Navan Rugby Football Club as a key member of our historic inaugural Leinster Provincial Towns Cup-winning side in 1964.

Terry’s entry into rugby is the stuff of club legend as recorded in the Navan RFC Centenary Book; Coming from a strong GAA background, he had never played rugby before when he was called upon to fill in on the wing for an invitational match against Lansdowne in 1964.

Remembering Terry Asquith: Navan RFC Towns Cup Winner | Navan Rugby It is with great sadness that we mark the passing of former Navan RFC player Terry Asquith, who passed away peacefully on 24th July 2026..

Navan RFC Expresses our deepest sympathy on the Passing of Gretta Fitzsimons.

Everyone at Navan RFC is deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Margaret (Gretta) Fitzsimons (née Murray), matriarch of the well-known Navan publican family, who passed away peacefully on Saturday, 22nd August 2026.

The Fitzsimons family shares a proud, long-standing association with Navan Rugby Football Club. Paddy’s brother, former club captain Mick Fitzsimons, famously skippered Navan’s 1st XV to historic victory in the 1964 Provincial Towns Cup final replay against Kilkenny, a milestone that remains one of the most cherished moments in our club’s history. Beyond the pitch, the Fitzsimons family and Paddy Fitzsimons Public House have been steadfast friends and supporters of Navan RFC across generations.

We extend our heartfelt condolences to Gretta’s children Padraig, Dara, Arlene, and Jarlath, her eleven beloved grandchildren, her extended family, and her wide circle of friends.
