🇮🇪 WE’RE LOOKING FOR 2–3 VOLUNTEERS TO HELP GROW OCR IN IRELAND

OCRA Ireland is putting together a new Club Development Team, and we’re looking for people who are passionate about OCR and want to help bring the Irish OCR community together.

Interest in our sport is growing. More and more people are asking us:

“Where can I train?”
“Is there an OCR club near me?”
“How can we start something in our area?”

We want to turn those individual conversations into new connections, training groups, clubs and opportunities across Ireland.

As part of the Club Development Team, you could help:

• Connect OCR athletes and potential organisers in the same area
• Support existing clubs and training groups
• Help new OCR groups get started
• Build relationships with gyms and training facilities
• Identify areas where there is demand for OCR
• Work with our social media team on regional recruitment campaigns
• Help create a stronger national network of OCR clubs and communities

You don’t need experience in sports administration.

We’re looking for people who love OCR, enjoy connecting people, are willing to take initiative, and genuinely want to see the sport grow.

The work will be shared between 2–3 volunteers, mostly remotely and flexibly around your existing commitments.

We’re looking to connect with someone who has experience designing and building scaffolding frames for OCR obstacles.

OCRA Ireland is currently exploring options for building our own obstacle structures, and we’d love to arrange a call of around an hour with someone experienced in this area.

We’re particularly interested in understanding what type of scaffolding and components would be required, how the structure should be designed and assembled, what additional materials may be needed, and the key practical and structural considerations we should be aware of.

At this stage, we’re mainly looking for advice and expertise rather than someone to build the structure for us.

If you have experience with scaffolding-based OCR obstacles, or know someone who does, please send us a message. We’d really appreciate the opportunity to pick your brain.

The World Championships are over, and I’m still struggling to find the right words.

This was not exactly the event we had spent the last year planning. There were challenges, last-minute changes, and plenty happening behind the scenes. But through all of it, people raced, crossed finish lines, earned titles, and for the first time ever, we crowned 400m OCR World Champions.

More than anything, I want to say thank you.

To every volunteer and Technical Official who gave their time. To those who finished their own races, put on a vest and went straight back onto the course to help make sure someone else could compete fairly.

To , for being the voice of reason throughout a very difficult year of planning.

To Mauro Leoni and Jakobo, for making sure the attachments got to us.

To TOROZ , for getting the rig to Ireland, setting it up and helping make the impossible slightly less impossible.

And to everyone else who saw things getting difficult, rolled up their sleeves and simply asked, “What do you need a help with?”

One moment I will never forget was the standing ovation from the national delegates. After everything leading into the Championships, the support, understanding and empathy behind that moment meant more to me personally than I can properly explain.

I’ve said it before, but this weekend proved it:

A sport is not its logo.
It is not its federation.
It is not its rulebook.
A sport is its people.

This weekend, those people carried a World Championship across the finish line.
