Rugby League Ireland are delivering our first ever Wheelchair Rugby League Match Officials course. This will involve an online session followed by practical officiating at one of our games on 2nd May. The course is open to all and is fully inclusive.
Steve Hogan, RLI’s Head of Wheelchair Match Officials, said “Several of our players have taken to officiating and will be our next generation of match officials as we continue to grow the game in Ireland. As well as refereeing in our domestic competition, accredited officials will have opportunities to be involved in representative fixtures in the future.”

Everybody in this picture has come together from different backgrounds and places, and bonded over their commitment to, and enjoyment of, wheelchair rugby league and the opportunities that this variant of the sport provides.
For 12 of these people, a wheelchair is not just for sport, it is an essential part of their everyday life. It is a vital tool they use to go to work or college, to socialise with family and friends, and to get on with living an independent life.
