Kinnegad Juniors 5 v 1 Birr Town
On Saturday morning at Breedon Park, the U15 girls welcomed Birr for their second MSL grading league fixture.
Kinnegad started on the front foot, but fell behind to a corner after three minutes. But the reaction was excellent. Katelyn brought it level - Kaka continued her fine start to the season with another goal, following up last week's strike. Zoë B then took control with two goals before half-time.
She completed her hat-trick early in the second half and sealed the game with her fourth, finishing on 5-1.
There were strong performances throughout. Vakare was solid in goal, Skye was strong in defence, Leah was steady as ever, and Grace was dependable again. Lauren led by example, Lily and Pola were tireless, Bella was selfless up top, and Sarah worked hard throughout. Katelyn was excellent again and rewarded her display with another goal. Faye impressed on her debut, showing great composure on the ball and getting stuck into the game.
Most importantly, after going behind early, the girls showed the mentality we've been working on. Things won't always go their way in a game, but how they react to those moments is one of the biggest tests of them as footballers. Today, they responded brilliantly.
Woman of the Match: Zoë B was the clear choice this week after an outstanding performance and four goals. Having scored a hat-trick against Temple Villa last week, she followed that up with another four goals today — seven goals in two games. A fantastic couple of performances from Zoë.
