Niall Doherty posted the winning score at the weekend with a 2 point winning margin as he shot 39 points. He had quite the start with 4 points on his opening hole, but a sticky patch followed before he birdied the 9th for another 4 points and from there he pushed on and had a very impressive back 9 which yielded 22 points. Ciaran Mc Ginley was second with 37 points, while Gerard Breslin and Gary Boyle both shot 36 points for third and fourth respectively. Congratulations to Niall and to all our prize winners over the weekend.

With our celebration night next month in Caisleain Oir to look forward to, we firstly have a great day planned for Saturday 26th September on the links in Cruit Island. Who will have the brag of winning our 40th anniversary competition and walking the floor in Caisleain Oir.

With a squeeze on daylight hours it’s a 𝗺𝗲𝗺𝗯𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝗼𝗻𝗹𝘆 competition and as part of our celebration all proceeds from the competition entry is going to two local charities. Timesheet available from Friday so get your time booked. Looking forward to a fantastic day’s golf⛳️🌟🌟🌟

Conditions varied hugely over the weekend, Saturday was wet and windy but Sunday was a perfect day for golf. Stephen Melly took advantage of the fine conditions to shoot his best round of the year with a super 4 over round for a nett 63 to win by a shot. Just behind him was Gerard Mc Elwee who had a round of 6 over for a nett 64. Third went to Gerard Breslin and fourth to Michael Boyle Q, both with 66. Well done to Stephen and to all our prize winners over the weekend.

𝗟𝗮𝘀𝘁 𝗠𝗮𝗻 𝗦𝘁𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 🍾🍾🍾

Congratulations to Siobhan Gillespie who has won our Last Man (Person) Standing after a crazy weekend in the Premier League where Chelsea failed to beat promoted Hull City, Liverpool failed to beat Fulham who hadn’t a point before Saturday and Aston Villa were beaten at home by Nottingham Forest who got their first win of the season. Siobhan had already used Chelsea & Liverpool so was forced away from picking the two stand out picks of the weekend. She went for Arsenal who themselves had a major scare against Sunderland but eventually came away with a 2-0 win.

That means after only 𝟦 𝓌𝑒𝑒𝓀𝓈 of picks we have a clear winner and therefore we will start again with a brand new Last Man but because there is only one round of games before the International break we are leaving our new one until Saturday 10th October following the International break ⚽️👍🍾🍾🍾

Cruit Island were well represented at the Solheim Cup in the Netherlands over the weekend 🇪🇺⛳️

Team Europe regained the Cup with a fantastic 15-13 success with some thrilling golf on view that I am sure we will get a full account of from Carmel 😂💙💛🏆🇪🇺

And in a great weekend for viewing golf we of course had the Irish Open taking place at Doonbeg and for the second year running an Irish winner, with Shane Lowry recording a record winning margin in his second Irish Open success 🇮🇪🏌️‍♂️🏆

In close to unplayable conditions yesterday Pat Greene produced a sensational back 9 to post a winning score of 42 points, 25 of those 42 points were gathered on the second 9 where Pat was only 6 over. John Bonner had looked like securing his third win of the season having posted 39 points on Saturday evening but in the end had to settle for second spot. John Fred Sweeney was third with a fine 38 points and Stephen Melly fourth with 36 points on a break of tie. Well done to Pat and all our prize winners.
