What do you do once you reach a goal?
Stop?
Go back to old habits?
Wait for the next holiday or event to come around?
Surely you want to get to a point where you can maintain things.
This is probably mostly seen when it comes to weight loss or fat loss. But can apply to any fitness goal.
Periods of time where you maintain what you have achieved and keep practising the habits that got you the results the first place.
Maintaining is the bigger result.

When people decide they want to make a change with their training and nutrition, the temptation is to tackle everything at the same time. In my experience that's usually what makes it harder to stick with. Focus on one thing first, get comfortable and confident with it and then start building on that.

Some of my clients are rebuilding their strength right now. Others are trying to fit training in around a demanding job. And some are just learning new skills and figuring out how to apply them properly.
But honestly, the weeks that actually decide your long term progress aren't the good ones. It's what you do on the weeks that don't go to plan that matters most.
Your health, nutrition and fitness isn't a quick fix. They're apart of a lifestyle you build over time, not something you get right once and move on from.
New podcast episode out.
This week I talk about something that you might be missing when it comes to seeing results or getting fitter and strong..
And that is patience.
I know, nothing exciting about that! Everyone wants the result yesterday. But it's going to take time, trial and error and getting it wrong.
You have to be open to going through the process and actually seeing what does work and what you are able to do now. It's probably going to take twice as long as you think.
But trying to do the same thing over and over again and stoppingand starting, that could take a lifetime.
So if you are getting back in training, need to make changes to your nutrition this time, accept it needs time and patience. And then you might surprise yourself with what you achieve.

Training smarter means acknowledging where you're at right now. Can you recover well from what you're doing? Are you learning the movements properly? Can you fit it into your week consistently? That's your starting point, not how hard you can push yourself on day one.
DM me STRENGTH and I'll send you my free Simple Strength Starter guide.
Something that popped into my head lately is that everyone talks about consistency.
But I think patience is just as important.
Being patient and giving change time to happen. Practice the skills and give yourself time and stop expecting everything to happen overnight.
People are far more capable than they give themselves credit for. But you have to put yourself in a position to find that out.
Showing up consistently, building your strength, working on your balance and fitness.
That's what keeps you doing the things you love through every stage of life.
I chat about this in the new podcast episode. Link in the bio or you can find it one Spotify- Everyday Strong Podcast

Life's going to happen. Your training is just one small part of it, so when things get messy it doesn't mean the plan has to stay exactly as it was written.
It has to adjust and what matters is what you do when that happens and not that you just keep "pushing on".
Take my client example here. She has been training consistently, doing the work for the last 3 months and then there is a week that just throws things off. Not stops things, just a slight pause.
And the only things that we will worry about is how she is feeling so when she is ready she is able to get back to her normal routine. Not adding more stress on top of existing stress.
Anything with training or programming is never set it stone, there are ways that it can be adjusted.
New podcast - How much training should you be doing?
Well, it depends!
But let's look at it from the recommendation amount first from a health and wellbeing perspective.
