Congratulations to all including the Cloghs’ very own Oisín Butler winning most improved player of the year. ⚫️🟡

Congratulations to the men from the Burrow on winning the league last night against a brilliant Corner A team. A team of gentlemen and brilliant throwers. 👏

The Corner A put up a great fight and deservedly received their own trophy for topping the table at the end of the league phase.

George Mills Shield Semi Final
Cloghs Black 18 - 16 Corner B

Last Friday the Cloghs and the Corner B played the first semi final of the shield a week earlier than planned to ensure both teams were at full strength.

Game 1 - Evan Jones 3-2 David Carey
In the first game Evan matched up against former Cloghs man David Carey. Evan wasted a 180 on the warm up but continued to throw solid darts to secure a narrow win.

Game 2 - Oisín Butler 3-2 Brendan Ward
In the second game Oisín matched up against another former Cloghs thrower in Brendan Ward, coming out on top in a narrow 3-2 win.

Game 3 - David Fox 4-1 Gary Quinn
In the third game David extended the Cloghs lead with another individual win but this time getting an extra leg in a race to 18

Game 4 - Collie Fox 2-3 Shane Farrell
In the fourth game Collie came up against a brilliant Shane Farrell who threw exceptional on the night. Despite an individual defeat, collie still secured 2 more legs for the Cloghs.

Game 5 - Danny Mooney 3-2 Tommy Phelan
In the final singles game Danny came out of the blocks quick in terms of scoring but plenty of missed doubles meant Tommy went 0-2 up. Danny recomposed himself and reeled off the last three legs meaning it was 15-10 going into the doubles.

Game 6 - David & Ciaran 2-3 Shane & David C
In the first doubles the Fox brothers teamed up to take two legs after Ciaran finally managed to fix a broken dart sustained in the warm up.

Game 7 - Oisín & Danny 1-3 Gary & Tommy
The Cloghs men needed 1 leg from a possible 5 to make it through to the final. The Cloghs started well but lost the first… the second… the third… but not the fourth. Danny pinned double 5 to send the Cloghs into the George Mills shield final

Many thanks to the lads at Carbury GAA for having us on the night and thanks to the Corner B for another brilliant and competitive game.

The final will be played on the 8th of May in Donoghues against the winners of Cloghs Yellow v Castle Inn

The Cloghs took on the men from Rhode in a neutral venue kindly provided by O’Donoghues, Edenderry.

A great standard of darts all night and a good result for the Cloghs.

That concludes the league phase for this year with the Cloghs finishing in 8th place meaning we are through to the semi final of the Shield.

Corner A 26-9 Cloghs Black

The Cloghs travelled out to table toppers Corner A knowing we were in for a tough night having only taken 5 legs off the lads from the Corner in the return fixture earlier in the year.

Darren drew the short straw this week to match an in form Johnny Reilly, throwing 16 and 17 dart leg running out 5-0 winner

Ciaran Fox lost 4-1 in the second game to get the first point on the board for the Cloghs.

Danny narrowly lost out 3-2 in a game where he knows he could have won. Super darts with doubles just evading him.

Evan Jones lost 4-1 but threw exceptional darts. Just unlucky to have drawn a straw as short as the one Darren drew.

It was a battle of the captains in the last leg with the Cloghs captain narrowly edging out a 3-2 win.

Ciaran and Danny teamed up in the doubles and narrowly lost out 3-2

Evan and Oisín just took too long to get going in the last game of the night and didn’t add to the Cloghs tally.

Overall 9 legs were secured by the Cloghs men compared to the 5 we got earlier in the year showing this teams continuing improvement.

Our final game of the league phase is against The Rhode Inn on Friday.

Cloghs Yellow 16 - 19 Cloghs Black

It was the battle of the two Cloghs team in the clubhouse on Friday night. The last time the sides met it was a narrow victory for the Yellows by just one leg so we knew this was going to be another very close encounter.

David Fox throwing super darts as always won 3-2 in a brilliant game with Garreth Monaghan where Foxy hit two 180s.

Evan Jones done well to grab a leg off Andy Owens who was throwing absolutely fantastic darts, averaging in the 70s in some legs.

Colum Cusack narrowly lost 3-2 to Marty Duffy.

Ciaran Fox took on Cloghs Yellow captain John Duffy and won 3-2 in a very competitive game.

Danny Mooney solid as ever won 4-1.

David Fox and Oisín lost 3-2 in the first singles game. Foxy to send on the physio bill to Oisín after carrying him for 5 legs. A 109 finish from Foxy in this one which was omitted from the scoresheet.

Ciaran and Danny having both won in their singles game teamed up in the doubles to secure the win for the Cloghs Black overall on this occasion.

A brilliant night of darts against the absolute gentlemen from the Cloghs yellow. It has been great to share the clubhouse with these lads all year and we wish them all the best for the rest of the season.

Castle Inn 15 - 20 Cloghs Black

Last Friday the Cloghs travelled the short trip over to the Castle inn for a competitive game of darts.

Ciaran, Danny and Oisín all narrowly losing out 3-2 in their games.

The fox brothers of David and Collie continued the 3-2 Trend but with the Cloghs men on the right side of it this time.

It was in the doubles that the Cloghs pulled away with two 4-1 victories. Brilliant team work from Evan and Danny and then Collie and David.

Tonight, we take on the Cloghs Yellow in the Clubhouse

Killeen’s v Cloghs Black
Result 22-13

After a scoreline of 22-13 in favour of Killeen’s on Friday night, the Cloghs showed tremendous consistency and lost 22-13 to Killeen’s again just two days later.

Ciaran Fox put the Cloghs into a 5-0 lead with a brilliant display of darts.

Oisín spectated as Andrew Buckley put on a masterclass in the second game to level the score at 5-5

Evan, David and Danny all played their part but each of them narrowly lost 3-2 in each of their games.

David and Evan teamed up first in the doubles and were unfortunate to not get a leg, some great scoring from the lads but the doubles let us down in that one.

Danny and Ciaran secured a further two legs in a narrow 3-2 defeat in the final game of the night.

No game this Friday. We go again in two weeks time against the Castle Inn ⚫️🟡

Cloghs v Killeen’s
Result: 13-22

The Cloghs hosted the Killeen’s men from Rhode in our first night using the Dartconnect system kindly supplied and installed by our very own Colum Cusack.

3-2 wins for the two available Foxes on the night, Collie and Ciaran

A narrow 2-3 loss by Danny

And two big 5-0 wins for the Killeen’s men against Ryan and Darren.

The doubles saw a narrow 2-3 loss from the team of Ciaran and Colum.

Danny and Oisín concluded the night with a 3-2 win.

Great darts all night. Our next game is also against Killeen’s… tomorrow.
