Yesterday we had 7 athletes take on the Metalman Swim Series in Mullaghmore, Sligo. The last few weekends have been busy with getting the training in across Carrickfin beach in some tough conditions for this race. The race consisted of 3 different distances with the 1km, 2km, and 3km swims.
Katie Bowe completed her first ever open water race in the 1km in a great time of 28:12. Megan B***r and Terence Gallagher took on the 2km swim with Megan coming in at 44:22 and Terence at 47:40. Next up was the 3km race with Niamh OβDonnell finishing under the hour in 57:05, Tricia Ward was next at 1:03:15, Roisin Bonner home in 1:03:28, and Hugh Bonner in 1:04:34.
We also had Megan B***r take on the Liam Ball Sprint Triathlon in Derry at the end of May. The sprint distance consists of a 750m swim, 20km bike, and a 5km run. Megan finished 2nd in her age group in a time of 1:33:43ππ»

Huge congratulations to Hugh Bonner on a fantastic performance at the Buncrana Duathlon today !
On a perfect day with a light breeze and a lovely, fast course, Hugh powered his way to 3rd place in the Male Over 55 category. An incredible achievement against strong competition from clubs across the North West, including Derry, Tyrone, and Donegal.
Hugh said the event was brilliantly organised and set the tone for what promises to be a great season ahead. Hugh was also the first athlete from the club to compete this year, setting the bar high from the very start!
Well done, Hugh ππͺ
