Perfect Start in Dungourney — The Bridge Hit the Road and Bring Home Three Points

Castlebridge Celtic got their league campaign off to the perfect start today away in Dungourney against a young, hungry St. John Boscos side.

There were a few new faces in Bridge colours this season and they slotted right in, complimenting the existing squad brilliantly and showing exactly what they're about from the first whistle.

Under the watchful eye of referee Anthony Thompson, this was a great watch from the get-go. End to end, with some great link-up play from both sides, and two teams who were clearly up for it.

The first break came for the hosts. On 11 minutes, Boscos were awarded a free kick within shooting range and made it count — 1-0 to the home side. It only upped the intensity. Both teams pushed, both teams created, but Boscos held firm.

Just when it looked like they'd take the lead into the break, the Bridge got their reward. Dion McCormack was brought down in the box, winning a penalty. Up stepped Kieran Barrett — calm as you like — and slotted it home right on the half-time whistle. Level, and game on.

The second half started with the same fierceness. This time it was the Bridge who took control, playing some flowing football and creating chance after chance. It started to feel like the points might be shared.

Until 6 minutes from the end.

Gracjan Platek whipped in a superb cross to Jordan Gordon-Harvey, who seized his moment. He slipped past two defenders and the keeper and buried it from a near-impossible angle. A proper striker's finish.

From there, the Bridge retained possession, dominated the closing minutes, and saw the game out with composure.
