Congratulations Ambrose !

Congratulations Ambrose!

This month’s Muskerry News / Blarney & District Chamber of Commerce person of the month is Ambrose McNamara, who has had an extraordinary impact on the young people of Whitechurch over the past 25 years.

Whitechurch Foroige has two clubs, with members ranging from the age of 12 to 18. Ambrose as the club leader has spent every Friday night empowering and inspiring our next generation. He has a unique ability to encourage teenagers to reach their full potential and embrace various challenges, from organising events, to taking part in various activities. One example of this is the Christmas craft and bake sale. He is instrumental in ensuring that all members have a voice in the club, and are allowed to be heard, fostering independence in each child.
Throughout his time as club leader he has been hugely influential in facilitating the club members to raise thousands of euros for various charities including Blarney Meals on Wheels, Unicef, Irish Cancer Society and Marymount Hospice.
Ambrose stands out because of his unwavering dedication to leading and mentoring the youth of the Foroige community but also for championing numerous parents and guardians to lead and mentor alongside him.
Ambrose has also helped other clubs in the community - he has built sets for Blue Hat Drama Group, constructed a catwalk for fashion shows, and most recently organised the Saint Patricks Day Parade involving all local clubs.
His festive symbols, crafted with Forage members, can be seen around the village and in Waterloo at Easter, Christmas and St Patrick’s Day.
A true community man!

Muskerry RFC’s members, supporters and players extend our deepest sympathies to Darren’s family. We remember him as a fierce player and a leader on the pitch. Darren played and trained from the front. His strength of limb and character were evident in every game. Those of us fortunate to play with him remember his uncompromising physicality and commitment to the cause. It was always a comfort to know he was on our side, and equally dread being his opponent in training. We think especially of Darren and Aisling’s children, Adaline and Teddy, Darren’s parents John and Colette and his siblings Shane and Val. We will miss our clubman, our teammate, our friend. Ar Dheis Dé go raibh a anam. A Muskerry Sportsman, may he rest in peace.

Kevin Condon is this years Club Person of the year but in truth he could have been Club Person of any year of the last 30 years.
In the early years, he was a player and very early on caught the committe bug and from there on he always gives more than he gets.
He was youths officer in the early 2000’s and was the creator of the now famous Rodez trip which gave all of us and our kids cherished memories.
He was club treasurer in 2016 when the the main pitch was developed and his finaicial acumen was key to navigating the finances on that project.
He was our President during COVID and led the club through difficult times even doing an extra year at the helm to make sure that we were in good shape coming into 2023. Indeed we were as we regained J1 D1 status and our finances were in a healthy position to keep moving forward.
For well over 10 years now, Kevin has run the Annual Golf Classic which takes quite an effort and has been a stable source of fundraising and a good day out.
Never in the limelight but always working selflessly in the background.
This year Kevin its time to take a bow. Thanks for everything you do for Muskerry RFC. 💙👏 🦌

Today was about much more than 42.2 kilometres.

A huge congratulations to Stephen on completing the Cork City Marathon, an incredible achievement that reflects the determination, commitment and generosity that so many of us in Muskerry RFC have come to know and admire.

Stephen took on this challenge in honour of two of our club's finest servants, Kevin Condon and Howard Grice, while also raising funds for two charities that have provided such important support during their respective journeys.

What makes this gesture even more special is that Stephen himself embodies the spirit of volunteerism that Kevin and Howard have shown throughout their years of service. He gives an enormous amount of his time to the club and has been the driving force behind the growth and success of women's rugby at Muskerry RFC. Through his dedication, encouragement and leadership, he has created opportunities for countless players to enjoy and thrive in the game.

At a club built on friendship, community and volunteerism, Stephen's marathon challenge perfectly captures what Muskerry RFC is all about. Kevin and Howard have given so much to our club over the years, and it is fitting that one of our own great club people would step forward to honour them in such a meaningful way.

The marathon may have been run by one man, but today the entire Muskerry family was behind him every step of the way.

Stephen, your effort, your friendship and your unwavering commitment to this club make us all proud. Congratulations on a remarkable achievement *and a personal best Marathon time*! Thank you for everything you continue to do for Muskerry RFC💙💙
