FIERE

FIERE is a two year EU-funded project aimed at bettering innovative entrepreneurship skills in Europ

The project stems from the recognition that there’s a lack in entrepreneurial skills in European regions and that entrepreneurship education to personnel of regional, sub-regional and voluntary organisations could have a hugely beneficial multiplier effect within such regions. The project consortium is composed by seven organisations (one public regional organization, two university institutes, on

e public-private organization, two private companies and one NGO) from six European countries. Innovative and entrepreneurial regions can have a greater capacity to achieve their economic and social potential – even in the context of scarce resources. According to the EU, our regions should develop smart specialization strategies and promote entrepreneurship skills, i.e. to be innovative, creative, risk taking, change oriented, persistent and visionary. The FIERE project aims precisely at developing such entrepreneurial skills among people in community and voluntary organisations operating at a regional or sub-regional level. The project foresees a preliminary needs analysis in relation to innovative entrepreneurship skills in each of the project regions. The study will then serve as a basis for the development of an entrepreneurship skills training programme. The programme will then be tested and piloted, together with previously identified good practice case studies on the provision of innovative entrepreneurship education among regional stakeholders. Furthermore, a network of trained regional mentors will be established to assist learners within regional organizations to utilize innovative entrepreneurship skills in their daily roles. The result of the project will ultimately be an increased awareness on innovative entrepreneurship and the development of innovative and entrepreneurial policies and programmes within the regional organisations, whichever these may be (regional authorities, chambers of commerce, clusters, community and voluntary organisations). CESIE will be responsible for the project’s implementation in Sicily and will lead the project’s dissemination and exploitation activities. The project is co-financed with support of the European Commission’s Lifelong Learning Grundtvig Programme. Project partners:

“Public and Community Sectors adapting to change through Innovation & New Ways of Doing Things” was the title of FIERE’s Final Conference on 12th November 2015. The FIERE half-day conference will appeal to research institutions, public agencies and community/voluntary organisations and individuals. It will be attended by representatives from the projects’ EU partners. Participants will learn about current practice in the area of public and community sectors adapting to change through innovation. Case studies will be presented showcasing how organisations have successfully implemented “innovative” and “entrepreneurial” ways for improving their impact. Participants will also have the opportunity to network as well as engage in some creativity/innovation exercises.
