We were absolutely delighted to welcome all our juniors today, including both our returning juniors and those joining us for their very first taste of dragon boating!🚣♀️🚣♂️
It was fantastic to see so many young people coming along, giving the sport a go, having fun, and enjoying time on the water. We’re so glad you all came and shared this special day with us! ❤️

Established in 2013, the Carlow Dragon Boat Club is a dragon boat club based in Carlow Town, Ireland.
Dragon boating is an ancient Chinese sport which dates back over 2000 years . The dragon boat itself is deeply embedded in China’s dragon culture, with each boat having an ornately carved dragon’s head at the bow and a tail in the stern. The standard crew are 20 paddlers in pairs facing the bow of the boat, 1 drummer at the bow facing the crew and 1 steerer at the rear of the boat.
It was a fantastic Bank Holiday Monday as we took a few people out for their very first O1 training session.
It was great to see everyone giving it their all, learning new skills, and enjoying their time on the water. A brilliant day with plenty of smiles and teamwork.
Well done to everyone who took part—we're looking forward to seeing you back for more!

A huge well done to everyone at Carlow Dragon Boat Club who took part in today's social paddle! 🚣♀️👏
Covering 21.69 km in 3 hours and 25 minutes is no small achievement. It took teamwork, determination, and plenty of laughs along the way.
A special thank you to our amazing helms, who kept us safe and on course throughout, to our fantastic catering team, and to everyone who brought food and treats. Your hard work and generosity made the day even more enjoyable. Organising and providing for a group like this is no easy task, and it's very much appreciated.
A big thank you also to Susan for keeping the music going and adding to the brilliant atmosphere throughout the day. Your playlist helped keep spirits high and made the paddle even more enjoyable! 🎶💙
