Squash is a game for all, young and not so young, male and female. It offers fun, exercise and a great social life too.
We welcome returning and new members so grab your racket and come join us In the spring of 2013 the Squash Committee of Ballina Stephenites GAA club, Ballina, Co. Mayo, Ireland (we're not in Australia!!) decided to make a renewed effort to promote squash in the club and in the local area. An Open Night was held every Thursday night where anybody who wanted to could come along and play. This wa
s organised and run my Michael Mc Namara and it proved to be a great success as it brought back players to the club who had not played in some time and also attracted many new players. Following on from this initial success the first league was run in October, 2013 and following that another was run each season until today. We have now held a number of leagues and the club is going from strength to strength with upwards of 90 players playing in the league every week. There are players of every level playing from complete beginners to the best players around. Everyone plays against opponents of their own standard. Squash is a game that can be enjoyed by all and it is great to see so many men and woman playing at the moment. The coming year promises to be an exciting one for the Squash club, we will continue to run club leagues and a ladder league will be commencing shortly which will run all year round. We are always looking for new members and encourage anyone who wants to play to come along and give it a go. Male or female, young or old, squash is a game for all. It is great fun and great exercise and also has a great social side to it so it’s a great way to meet people and we as a club organise various social events for the club members over the course of the year.
