Our three (3) representatives in the Gambia Football Academies Association (GFAA) National U17 League Season 2026, were all in action on Sunday at the Bakau Mini Stadium.

In the early kickoff, Sporting Banjul FA lost 3-0 to former champions KGH Sports FA. Marking their debut in the league, Sporting Banjul FA made a bright start to the game, creating numerous chances but were let down by inexperienced and not being clinical in front of goal. Despite the result Sporting Banjul was competitive throughout the encounter and created numerous chances.

Meanwhile, it was a Banjul derby in the late game as Athletic City Stars FA took on Banjul Bees FA. The game lived up to its pre-match build-up, producing five goals in an electric atmosphere.

It was the newcomers Athletic City Stars who opened the scoring through Pabi Fatty's 30th-minute penalty. Ebrima Barry level the score five minutes later with a brilliant header for Banjul Bees. But their celebration was cut short when Momodou Barry scored arguably the goal of the season, hammering home a 30-yard thunderous strike into the top corner to put Athletic City Stars 2-1 infront at half-time.

Banjul Bees produced a stunning second half performance scoring twice through talisman Momodou Jobe two minutes from the break and a late penalty from substitute Abdoulie Faye to get maximum points with a narrow 3-2 victory over a spirited Athletic City Stars.

Today's matches was a timely reminder that Banjul possessed a huge amount of talented young players.

The Banjul Academies Association (BAA) wishes all three teams the best of luck in their journey.
