Day 1 of the 2026 MTN Elite U-19 Championship 🏆

Team Central are en route to the Ghannaman Soccer Centre of Excellence in Prampram for the 2026 MTN Elite U-19 Championship.

The team will depart this morning as they prepare to represent the Central Region in the tournament.

The championship was held yesterday at the Enyan Abaasa Astro Turf, where Cheetah FC emerged victorious to claim the regional title.

Defending champions Central Region began their title defence with a 2-1 victory over Greater Accra in the second edition of the GFA Elite U-17 Girls Championship, currently underway at the Ghanaman Soccer Centre of Excellence in Prampram.

Lordina Sam opened the scoring for Central Region, but the lead was short-lived as Greater Accra responded with a quick equaliser. Benedicta Abakah then netted the winner in the closing stages of the match, tapping home from a rebound.

Central Region defeated Greater Accra by the same 2-1 scoreline to win the inaugural edition of the championship last year.

The defending champions will face Brong Ahafo later today in their second match of the tournament.

The Central Regional Football Association (CRFA) is proudly represented at the ongoing FIFA Member Association (MA) Elite Refereeing Course being held at the Ghanaman Soccer Centre of Excellence in Prampram from 9th to 14th July 2026.

Representing the CRFA at the six-day programme are:
• Doris Essumang
• Reginald Collins Amoah
• Mary Tei
• Theophilus Antwi Sekyi

The course forms part of FIFA’s continuous efforts to improve refereeing standards through technical education, practical sessions and physical development. Participants are undergoing intensive training focused on key areas of modern officiating, including decision-making, match management, positioning, communication and fitness.

The CRFA commends its representatives for their participation in this important development programme and wishes them a successful and impactful course.

🏆 The Central Region has officially begun preparations to defend its Elite U17 Girls Colts Championship title, with a successful screening exercise held today.

The selected players will begin camping in the coming days ahead of the championship, scheduled for 30th July to 4th August 2026 at the Ghana Football Association Technical Centre in Prampram.

Champions of the inaugural edition, the Central Region is determined to retain the title.
