A round at Roxburgh Golf Club in Central Otago Highlands- lovely course in great condition and views from every tee!

Had my 2nd official Hole In One yesterday on a 198 yard par 3 with a 5 wood. Strange thing is, I didnt know it had gone in - hit the ball, saw it was on line tracking to the pin, saw it bounce and roll towards the flag and then bent down to pick up my tee! playing partners muttered something about it being either in or close. Got to the green and went to play a ball lying on the fringe behind the hole and realised it wasn’t mine before looking in the hole. Sublime and surreal moment.

I had a very interesting experience the other day which might be of interest to followers of the Fluid Motion Factor. Here’s roughly how it went: The weather was cold, windy and very, very damp - I had not played golf for 3 months and here I was on my way to what has to be a waterlogged golf course. Expectations - non existent. Long story short I was able to access Setting One so easily. By the time I got to the 6th tee, I was level par, I thought “ Heck, I could win this!” Fatal mistake! Double Bogey! Time to reset - what did i do wrong? Where did my swing go? Oh well, you’ve blown it now, time to relax and enjoy the company! 3 pars followed.
See the pattern? Low expectations -Setting One easy to access. High Expectations (pre frontal cortex comes on line, smooth swing disappears!) Cannot find Setting One anywhere!Reset: Low expectations , Setting One reappears, smooth swing is available again.
Worth giving it some thought.

It’s official: I will be teaching at Burgess Hill Golf Centre on a part time basis (weekends only) until the end of January and then I will be teaching full time there.
