Whitworth 2 - 0 Kettering Kites
Beautiful morning, sun was shining and the pitch was ready! The day started with some confusion as the opposition turned up in red and black, so a quick reminder to the girls, to get their heads up before passing the ball.
We started strong, both sides competing well and a few early chances both ways. We got the breakthrough, an excellent through ball from Summer, saw Ciara power away and slot it home. 1-0 and our tails were up.
Half time game and we got straight to work, trying to press and get balls behind the defence. Credit to Kettering’s keeper, she had a great game today.
The second goal game out of nowhere and from an unlikely, but very deserving Willow. She came out of defence to win a ball and everything opened up in front her, a great drive into space and a rocket of strike clipping the inside of the post and in! Girls went wild, I went wild and what a special moment for our left back 🫶🏻
Coaches player of the week went to Lexie for battling hard and making lots of great passes out of danger and Supporter player was Willow, great game all round, loads of excellent defending and topping it off with a goal 💪🏼
Next week, it’s NTFA cup first round, as we welcome Middleton Cheney to Victoria Mill. Let take this momentum with us and get our cup run underway.
