Semi final day for the Culcheth Eagles girls, away to Dewsbury Moor was set with perfect weather and pitch conditions. Coaches key message was: ๐บ๐ฎ๐
๐ถ๐บ๐๐บ ๐ฒ๐ณ๐ณ๐ผ๐ฟ๐ ๐ณ๐ฟ๐ผ๐บ ๐ธ๐ถ๐ฐ๐ธ ๐ผ๐ณ๐ณ.
Early on in the first half the girls gained the upper hand, scoring two quick tries; helping to settle any nerves. The response from Dewsbury was immediate, scoring two, counter tries and converting one. Concluding the first half with Dewsbury having the two point lead; 10 - 8.
Despite the Dewsbury comeback the girls showed a ๐ฝ๐ผ๐๐ถ๐๐ถ๐๐ฒ ๐ฎ๐๐๐ถ๐๐๐ฑ๐ฒ going into the second half.
The half was the real arm wrestle, both teams had all to play for but, both teams were hindered with stoppages, injuries and forced structural changes. For the Culcheth girls this only ๐ด๐ฎ๐น๐๐ฎ๐ป๐ถ๐๐ฒ๐ฑ ๐ฎ๐ป๐ฑ ๐ฏ๐๐ถ๐น๐ ๐ฟ๐ฒ๐๐ถ๐น๐ถ๐ฒ๐ป๐ฐ๐ฒ ๐๐ถ๐๐ต๐ถ๐ป. Together the team fought hard for every metre, heavily competed by the Dewsbury girls. As the game wore on; the tension built, the Eagles threw everything at the Dewsbury defence, managing to score a vital try with 3 minutes remaining.
However this wasnโt the end and in the final seconds the Culcheth girls scored a near identical try, sparking wild celebration.

We are incredibly proud of the season youโve had so far. The hard work, commitment, determination and togetherness youโve shown week after week has been fantastic to watch.

We started the season still playing in Union mode, but quickly found our feet with some brilliant performances and built a reputation as a strong, physical team.
Alongside our Premier Division fixtures, we also played plenty of development matches, giving players valuable time on the ball to push themselves, grow in confidence and prepare for Prem rugby.
That development really came into its own towards the end of the season. With injuries and holidays ruling out a fair few of our spine and more experienced players, the girls who had been working hard in those development fixtures stepped up, and what an improvement weโve seen in them since the beginning of the season! ๐
Despite dropping points in our final two games, we finish the league campaign 3rd in the Premier Division.
Now the hard work begins on the training pitch as we prepare for the play-off semi-final against Dewsbury Moor.
Itโs set to be a tight and hard-fought contest, with both sides taking a win against each other during the season.
Whatever happens, itโs been a fantastic season for the entire squad.
