👨‍🏫 What inspired you to begin coaching?
“Thank Dan Benson for that. Started by just helping out, but then seeing the group grow and bond felt it was time to do my courses.”

🏆 Favourite coaching moment — “This is why I coach”:
“There was a few but winning the cup along with the blue team tops it.”

🟥 Meet the Coach — John (Head Coach), Wakefield AFC U10s Reds

⚽️ How long have you been a coach?
“I’ve coached in youth football for three years and I’m now entering my fourth season.”

👨‍👦 What inspired you to begin coaching?
“It started through Alfie… From there, it developed into genuinely enjoying helping young players improve, grow in confidence and develop their love for football — while also getting to see Alf’s own love for the game grow.”

🏆 Favourite coaching moment:
“Seeing the boys play in a semi-final against a team we hadn’t beaten before… Everything clicked and they won 6–0. Winning the cup on penalties comes a close second!
Seeing Alfie go from a fringe player to one of the best goalkeepers in the league has made me incredibly proud — as his coach and his Dad.”

“I’d turn down the adrenaline and overstimulation during games!
If I could give them the calmness they show in training while keeping match‑day energy, we’d be laughing!”
