One difficult evening doesn't have to become a difficult week.

A big part of coaching is helping clients understand what happened, reset without guilt or restriction, and build the skills to handle those moments for themselves next time.

I'm not a tough love coach.

I'm a "go and eat an almond croissant this weekend" kinda coach.

And it's because I know my clients have yo-yo'd for decades before they come to me.

They have done all the diets, they've cut out all the foods, and they've been miserable every single time. And that's why it's never worked for them long-term.

So we do things differently.

We include foods purely for the joy they bring, even if they aren't technically 'optimal' for cholesterol and weight loss.

But we can do that in the knowledge that 80% of the time, they are living a heart healthy lifestyle that is effective for lowering cholesterol and losing weight.

If you are ready to try a different approach as well, comment or DM "COACHING" for information about what working with me 1 to 1 looks like

If you read any article about managing cholesterol it'll tell you to cut down on red meat.

So what do you do when your family demands the beloved Spag Bol?

Pack in as much veg as humanly possible!

Not only does this bulk out the bolognese so you end up eating less mince per portion, but it also adds soluble fibre (particularly from the carrots) which can help lower LDL cholesterol.

If your kids get funny about chunky bits of veg, blend them down with the chopped tomatoes before adding in the browned mince.

It's also best to use 5% fat mince, it's a bit more expensive but it'll stretch further using the above method!

I haven't magically developed huge levels of discipline.

But I have worked on my relationship with food and developed strategies that work WITH me instead of AGAINST me.

Which of the 5 strategies do you think would work best for you?

1️⃣ - Unconditional permission to eat
2️⃣ - Law of diminishing returns
3️⃣ - A little of what you want with more of what you need
4️⃣ - Surf the urge
5️⃣ - Removing "good" v "bad" labels

Comment your choice below and save for future 😊

Most of my clients only eat out once a week or so, meaning the other 20 meals of the week can be pretty balanced and heart healthy.

Then for the one meal a week they eat out, I recommend the following strategy...

"TWO OUTTA FIVE"

This means they pick two options from starter, main, sides, dessert and alcohol.

It's a super simple framework that allows them to navigate social occasions whilst being mindful of cholesterol and heart-health, without feeling restricted or like they shouldn't dine out at all.

Of course a warm chocolate fudge brownie and ice cream has saturated fat in it, but our health is determined by the average of our actions, not the one off indulgences.

My goal for clients is to lower cholesterol and lose weight whilst still living a life they enjoy. Because in my opinion, that's the recipe for consistency and ultimately success.

If you'd like to hear more about how you can achieve your goals without another miserable diet, I'm opening spaces for September shortly. Comment or DM "CHOCOLATE" if you'd like more info 😊

For years my soul motivation was to make my body smaller.

But now I just want to be as strong, fit, healthy and independent as possible for as long as possible.

The habits of exercising and eating healthily might look quite similar from the outside, but the reason behind them feels completely different.

And I don’t think it’s a coincidence that this is the healthiest and happiest I’ve ever been in my body and with my lifestyle.

Your goals don't have to stop being aesthetic.

But finding a deeper reason to look after your health can make it much easier to keep going when motivation dips.

My business turns four next month, and I honestly don’t think I could have predicted when I started my business in 2022 what it would become.

There was no grand plan to specialise in cholesterol.

I’d left medicine without really knowing what I wanted to do next, eventually retrained as a personal trainer and nutrition coach, and initially thought I’d spend my time helping people lose weight in a way that felt a bit more sane and sustainable than the approaches I’d grown up around.

And then one client with high cholesterol changed the direction of everything.

The more people I started speaking to, the more I realised that the problem wasn’t simply that people didn’t know they should eat more fibre, reduce saturated fat or exercise more.

Most people already had a vague idea of what “healthy” looked like.

The problem was knowing what actually mattered most. Knowing how to put it into practice. And knowing how to keep doing it when life was busy, motivation disappeared, or they couldn’t do everything perfectly.

And I think that’s probably the biggest thing I’ve learnt over these four years.

Giving people more information isn’t always the answer.

Sometimes they need someone to dial everything back, explain the science in a way that actually makes sense, and help them work out what they can realistically do from where they are now.

That’s become the heart of The Cholesterol Coach.

Helping people look after their heart, lower their cholesterol and improve their health without another miserable diet or feeling like they have to completely overhaul their life.

And I feel incredibly lucky that something I started when I had absolutely no idea what I was doing next has grown into work that feels so meaningful to me.

So if you’ve followed me for years, joined the Facebook group, listened to the podcast, bought the course or recipe book, worked with me 1:1, recommended me to somebody else, or even just liked or read my posts…

THANK YOU!

It means more than you'll ever know.

This one riled me up good and proper 😅 and I LOVE listening to Absolute Radio Country 😥

It's 2026, can we stop casually demonising an entire food group to millions of people please?

Thanks.

I'm off to go demolish my big old carby sandwich now.
