Hey guys, did you know that when the Shetland Performance Display Team attends an event and puts on a racing display in the main arena for the audience at the county shows and steam fairs, the money that is charged goes, in full, to charity!
The fee for the display goes to various children's hospitals, including Bristol and Southampton, and the younger team members- those like Oliver that are far too wild to be allowed on a pony in the arena, collect further donations after each display in their collection buckets, which usually equates to a further £200-300 raised on top of the fee!
Not only are the children living their best lives with their Shetland ponies, they are fundraising for charity and learning about the important work of the charities too as they meet up out of season to present the cheque to the foundations- in their jockey silks 🩷 and meet some of the children at the hospital, sharing their stories of Shetland pony racing!
If you have an event that you feel we could be a good fit for then do pop a message to the Shetland Performance page, we get to race at some incredible shows but also some quite quirky events too which are always lots of fun!
A huge thank you to everyone who puts some coins, and sometimes even notes, in our collection boxes, the generosity is simply beautiful!

Wonderful photos from Heddington and Stockley Steam Rally all that waving practice was put to good use, here we see both arms being retracted into full waving position 😂
Our little Blue Boy, he sure is one incredible pony.
If anyone has a Shetland and wishes to embark on the racing journey, there is an opportunity to meet the Shetland Performance Display Team and have a go at racing this weekend at the Shetland Performance Show, sadly we can't make it but it looks to be a fantastic event with lots of showing classes and jumping too.

The Petting Farm

Some points to note;
•We cannot travel the animals if the temperature is exceeding 30°, the booking will be postponed during weather warnings.
•We must have allocated/reserved parking, we cannot unload the animals on the roadside or walk them along a road to access the venue. If we are unable to safely unload then the booking will be cancelled and still charged in full.

A rather sweaty Ettie (those who listen to the videos will know that I call Verity by her nickname Ettie- as she was named after our first dog Ottie!), had to step in post riding for some promo photos with the sheep for an up and coming event 😂 thankfully her riding attire was actually on point when the message came through requesting me to send photos of the sheep!
Galloping in the shade during a heatwave one minute, and then trying to reach Too Model status the next, when looking like she has stepped out of a scene from Thelwell having been dragged through a hedge backwards!
