Whitburn & Cleadon U11 Tigers secured an excellent 2–1 victory over Rutherford in a closely contested match between two evenly matched sides.

The game was competitive from the outset, with both teams creating chances and working hard across the pitch. Rutherford managed to take the lead in the first half, despite some excellent goalkeeping from Freddie, who made several important saves to keep the Tigers within touching distance.

The Tigers came out strongly in the second half and showed great determination to get themselves back into the game. Daniel worked tirelessly up front, getting stuck into the challenges and putting pressure on the Rutherford defence. His efforts were rewarded when he found the back of the net with a well-deserved goal to bring the Tigers level.

With the game finely balanced, Oli produced a fantastic run down the left-hand side, showing great pace and determination and helping the Tigers push on for the winning goal.

Having hoped to come away with a draw, the Tigers showed tremendous character to keep pushing until the final whistle and ultimately secured a deserved 2-1 victory.

A fantastic team performance, with every player contributing and showing plenty of determination and spirit. Well done, Tigers! 🐯

The Tigers kicked off the new season at the new venue of Kepier Academy, staying totally unfazed by a delayed kick-off due to a pre-match hunt for pitch markings. It was a tight start, with Will having some good chances up front with some sharp forward play.

Things got lively when Darlington’s opener snuck in from distance - though sideline supporters were 99.9% sure it went through the outside of the net! Calls for a retrospective review were boldly ignored by the ref, and Darlington soon added a second. But the Tigers roared back before the break, with good attacking pressure and Raf pouncing on a loose ball in the box to make it 2-1.

The second half was a battle, with extra heart on display in defence and attack as the players fought for a result for team stalwart Joe and coach Sean in their final game with the club. While all are excited for the new season, it’s bittersweet saying goodbye to two team legends. Sean’s invaluable coaching - and his iconic shouts of "Mark blue!" - will be echoing in the players' ears for years to come!

The Tigers pushed hard for an equaliser right to the whistle. On another day, those close chances go in, but it was a great effort all round.

Well done, Tigers! ⚫️🟡⚫️🟡

🐯🧡 What a weekend for the Tigers! 🧡🐯

The Tigers had the best weekend away celebrating the end of another season! There was something for everyone – from kayaking and paddle boarding to plenty of food, laughs, and memories made together.

The grown-ups enjoyed a few well-earned drinks, the kids had an amazing time, and of course we can't forget a certain football match that kept everyone entertained and gave us even more to talk about! 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿⚽😉

It was the perfect way to celebrate another great season, bringing together players, families, and friends who make this team so special. While we had an amazing time, we definitely missed those who couldn’t make it and hope you’ll be with us on the next one. Thank you to everyone who came along and helped make it such a memorable weekend.

Here's to a fantastic season and even bigger things to come. Once a Tiger, always a Tiger!

The Tigers brought their season to a close and as has now become tradition, the supporters had an extra reason to keep a close eye on proceedings with the annual Tigers Bingo in full swing. Every shout, jump and cliché mattered just as much as the football.

The visitors struck first, breaking through the Tigers' defence to take an early lead. The response was excellent, though, as Will made a superb cross-field pass that found Raf. This season's final Player of the Match took the ball in his stride and finished confidently to level the scores and ensure the match was finely poised.

As the game trundled on, familiar cries of "Press!", "Find feet!", "Mark blue!", "Who wants it?" and "Shoooot!" echoed around the pitch and the Bingo dabbers were going wild. Sean was heard to dish out praise as the Tigers battled, while the usual substitutions also ticked off another bingo square. For a while it looked as though both "the ref goes for a toilet break" and "a player needs their shoelace tying" might make an appearance too, but frustratingly for those on the sidelines, neither came to fruition. When Chester-le-Street restored their lead, Sean's leap of frustration certainly livened things up even though "Sean jumps" hadn't made it onto this year's card.

Not long afterwards, a clearance disappeared spectacularly over the perimeter fence. Dave immediately headed off in search of the missing ball rather than watch the next passage of play, much to the delight of anyone with "coach goes for a walk" or “Dave jumps [over the barrier]” on their bingo card. Unfortunately for the Tigers, while he was away Chester-le-Street capitalised on a scramble in the box to make it 3-1.

By now, the Bingo tension was high, with several supporters just one event away from victory. Then the Tigers got a corner... and that was enough! Congratulations to Kirsty, who became the day's double bingo winner.

The final word belonged to Freddie, who produced a superb penalty save to deny Chester-le-Street a fourth goal and ensure the season ended with one final moment of quality.

A fitting end to another memorable season, filled with great football and excellent spirit. Thank you to all for another fantastic year.

Well done, Tigers!! ⚫️🟡⚫️🟡
