After plenty of battles already, today it’s all about one thing — getting through to the next round! 🏆

Still searching for those first 3 league points, but another proper battle from the lads tonight. 💪

Knutton took the lead with a big header from one of their lads, giving Shane no chance and putting them 1-0 up.

Then one of their defenders decided he was Vincent Kompany for the night 😂 Stepped up and let one fly when he had absolutely no right to shoot from there… straight in. Fair play. 2-0 Knutton. 🚀

Knutton carried on looking dangerous with balls over the top, and during one of them, one of their lads apparently decided it was time to teach Shane how to front flip 🤸‍♂️😂

The Vine weren’t done though. Alfie E stepped up and buried one from the edge of the box to drag us right back into it at 2-1. ⚽️🔥

A bit of handbags followed 👜, a few questionable calls 👀 and plenty of fight from both sides, but we couldn’t quite find the equaliser before the final whistle.

A frustrating result for the Vine after going into the break with a deserved lead.

The lads started the game well and Alfie E found the breakthrough in the first half, putting the Vine 1–0 up. ⚽️💚

Alfie E nearly made it two shortly afterwards, but the Burslem keeper pulled off a great save to deny him the brace, and we headed into half time with the advantage.

Burslem came out for the second half with something to prove and quickly put us under pressure. They found their way back into the game through an unfortunate own goal from Brogan, bringing it level at 1–1.

The momentum had shifted and Burslem grabbed their second after a free kick was sent into the box. A scrappy passage of play followed before the ball eventually fell kindly for a simple tap-in towards the middle of the net.

They then sealed the game with a third, finding a free man in the middle who made no mistake with the finish.

A big shoutout to Shane between the sticks, who pulled off some massive saves in the second half and kept us in the game on several occasions. 🧤👏

Not the result we wanted after a strong first half, but plenty to take from it and we go again! 💚🍇⚽️

⚽️🍇 FULL TIME | THE VINE 2–2 POTTERS BULLDOG 🍇⚽️

A hard-fought game at Sprink Bank saw the points shared as The Vine Inn Pittshill FC and Potters Bulldog FC battled out a 2–2 draw. 💚

Potters Bulldog struck first early in the opening half, with a corner delivered into the box being met well with a header to give the visitors a 1–0 lead.

The Vine reacted quickly though. A smart ball over the top from Kieren found Jack, who made absolutely no mistake, rifling his effort into the back of the net to bring us level. ⚽️🔥

1–1.

Potters managed to find a way through again not too long after, with a good ball in behind the Vine defence allowing them to take the lead for the second time in the match.

But once again, the lads responded almost immediately. Some smart play inside the Potters box drew the foul and the referee pointed to the spot. Taylor stepped up and confidently dispatched the penalty to make it 2–2. 🎯⚽️

Both sides continued to battle in a tough, competitive game, but neither could find the winner and the match finished honours even.

Not the result we wanted from our first league game, but plenty to take from it and definitely a few moments to remember. 😂

The Vine started well and went into the break 1–0 up, courtesy of JT. After the first attempt from all of about a yard out somehow didn’t find the net, he made absolutely sure with the second and tucked it away. 😂⚽️

Cheadle came flying out of the blocks after half time and clearly had their FIFA tactics switched on, catching us straight from kick-off to level things at 1–1.

Then came one Rob probably won’t be allowed to forget for a while… Cheadle got the shot away and Rob clearly fancied getting himself on the scoresheet, perfectly angling it past our own keeper to put Cheadle 2–1 up. 🤦‍♂️😂

Cheadle eventually wrapped things up with a strike from outside the box. Shane managed to get a hand to it, but unfortunately couldn’t get enough behind it to keep it out.

A disappointing result, but our first league game is officially in the books. Plenty to work on, plenty of football still to come and we go again next week. 💚🍇

⚽️💚 THE VINE FC – FIRST LEAGUE GAME! 💚⚽️

A big day for The Vine FC this Sunday as the lads play their first league game against Cheadle SMU!

We’d love to see as many of our customers, friends and supporters there as possible to get behind the lads and cheer them on for what is a massive milestone for the team. 💚🍇

The Vine Inn FC 2 - 1 Newcastle FC

Full time again at Sprink Bank saw the lads grab a 2-1 victory today against Division 5 side Newcastle FC.

The Vine started off spritely as usual and were creating some decent chances early on. Newcastle FC answered with some good defensive play and some counterattacking football.

The Vine's first big chance came when a lovely ball over the top found Kie Clews one on one with the keeper, but it didn't fall the way Kie had hoped and the keeper made a save that had to be made.

Chances were flowing at both ends, and the scoring was opened by Harry, with what can only be described as a top tier, world class strike from 25 yards out, finding the top corner and leaving the Newcastle keeper with no chance. 1 - 0 The Vine.

The Vine didn't stop there and kept pushing, with a few more chances going our way, but unfortunately not finding the back of the net. And it was a very similar story for Newcastle, and with some good defensive play from the Vine, we saw out the first half with a 1 - 0 lead.

We got the second half underway with no changes made, and we controlled the first 10-15 minutes.

This bright spell from the boys saw Diogo go on a fantastic solo run from his own half, and thread a lovely ball through the Newcastle defence. This was turned in by a Newcastle defender after their only bit of miscommunication in the game saw them 2-0 down. But taking nothing away from Kie Clews who was hot on the heals of the Newcastle defender to force the error. 2-0 The Vine.

Fatigue had started to set in for both teams, and things soon turned on its head as Newcastle saw their first goal through our very own captain, Jake, with a spectacular strike! 😂 Jake was unlucky with clearing a Newcastle low cross which unfortunately saw the back of his own net. However we are taking nothing away from Jake who put on a brilliant performance, and didn't miss a beat throughout the whole 90 minutes. 2-1 The Vine.

We all worked as a team to keep Newcastle at bay, and we succeeded and wrapped up a brilliant 2-1 victory.

Thank you to Newcastle FC for this evening and a massive well done to everyone at The Vine FC on another victory.
