As the summer competition season winds down, many riders are doing that quiet mental replay.
The good moments… the “nearly” moments… and the bits you wish had gone differently.
If you’re noticing patterns, tension, or mindset wobbles that held you back, you’re not alone.
Sometimes the bravest thing is simply admitting: I want next season to feel different.
I’m an experienced master mindset transformation coach supporting riders to release fear, reset their thinking, and ride with quiet confidence.

A rider told me recently:“I didn’t realise how much my horse was waiting for me to relax.”
And when she did… everything changed.
That’s the magic of calm work.

There’s a particular kind of quiet here —the kind that makes your shoulders dropand your thoughts slowand your horse sigh beside you.
I love sharing this space with riders.

Confidence doesn’t always look dramatic.
Sometimes it’s a softer hand.A deeper breath.
A horse who suddenly feels safe enough to stretch.
These are the moments I treasure.

I’ve been thinking a lot about how riders grow best:quietly, kindly, without pressure.
Confidence isn’t loud.
It’s steady.
And it’s shared between you and your horse.

Ever feel like your technical skills completely vanish the moment the pressure is on?
It’s not just you—it’s what sports psychologists call "choking under pressure."
When we get anxious, we often shift from our fluid, automatic movement to over-thinking every single body part.
We start trying to consciously control movements that should be happening automatically.
This "hyper-vigilance" actually creates muscle tension and disrupts the communication between you and your horse.
The fix?
Shift your focus “outward”
Instead of worrying about your heel position or your hand, focus on the rhythm of the hooves or a specific target in the arena.
Get out of your head and into the flow of your horse
