We’re kicking off a bit earlier so everyone’s prepped and ready for the England game at 8.

Tonight’s Masters training, 7pm — the only place in Salford where grown adults willingly roast themselves for fun 🔥
Men’s and Salford City Roosters Women's Masters Team both taking on the heatwave like legends… or like people who’ve accepted their fate.

Expect heroic sweating, dramatic water‑bottle chugging, and rugby played at a pace best described as “survival with enthusiasm”.

Then — once we’ve all finished wobbling about in the sun — its time for a nice refreshing, cold, absolutely‑deserved bevvy to celebrate making it through.

Newcomers welcome. Come melt, laugh, run a bit, and earn that crisp post‑session pint 🐓🏉💦🍺

Big thank you to Golborne Parkside Masters for coming down to Hallsworth Road today.
What a great game of Masters rugby — played in the right spirit from first whistle to last.

We were short on numbers, but the Masters ethos shone through. With help from a few legends we still managed to field two full teams and put on a cracking game.

Massive appreciation to the lads who stepped in to make sure the game could go ahead:
NW Buccs, Chester, Andy from Blackpool Stanley, and Barrell.
Your support was genuinely appreciated 👏

Standout performances…

- Kyle — stepped up through the middle like a proper forward, loving the contact and putting himself about all game.
- Paul M (Road Runner) — worked tirelessly in attack. Didn’t quite find the space he usually finds, but his engine never stopped.
- Man of the Match: Smithy — our superhero, our Mr. Marvel. Once again throwing his body into everything. Phenomenal effort. A true Master stood right at the top of the pedestal. The player we love having in our side and the player we all aspire to be.

Even with injuries, commitments and lads unavailable, everyone who turned up made it a brilliant day of Masters rugby.

Our next game is in two weeks up at Blackpool Scorpions.

Cracking afternoon of Masters rugby today against Ashton Bears and the North Wales Buccaneers.
Physical, competitive, and full of proper rugby spirit — exactly what we’re about.

Standout shifts from the lads:

- Scott — fearless at fullback, threw himself into everything against some big units.
- The Triangle of Movement: Billy H, Wildy & Foz — constant energy, smart lines, kept us rolling forward all game.
- Martin & Andy — strong debuts, loads of promise, only going to grow from here.
- Phil — caught the ball (miracles happen), made big carries and some quality tags. Next time we’ll get him working more through the middle.

I didn’t see much ball in attack today, but defensively I got around and did my bit.

Overall — class effort from everyone.
We faced some seriously experienced players and held our own with pride, graft, and Roosters spirit all over the pitch.

The Masters teamsheet is locked in for the Portico Festival this Saturday — and we’ve got two brand‑new Roosters taking the field.

A massive welcome to Martin and Andy, who will be stepping out in the Roosters kit for the very first time. Big moment for both lads and a proud one for the club.

The festival kicks off at 12:30, with our first game expected to get underway around 13:30.
If you’re free, get yourself over to Portico, shout the lads on, and enjoy what’s shaping up to be a fantastic day of Masters rugby league.

Our Roosters Masters Men are heading over to Portico this weekend for what’s shaping up to be a brilliant festival of rugby.

We’ll be taking on Ashton Bears and the North Wales Buccaneers — two tough, honest Masters sides who always bring a great spirit to the day.
The lads are fired up, ready to rip in, and buzzing for another run-out in the blue.
