⭐️⭐️Ride the ears forward⭐️⭐️
This was Diva today, I bought her a couple of weeks ago now but really got started working on her this last 7 days… I’ll be honest, she’d obviously had someone up on her back and ridden up and down a bit , but she was nervy and absolutely clueless.
Everyday she’s come on a bit more, improving, growing her confidence, she’s coming on very well and a lovely kind cob.
I worked her this morning and this evening this is what I was doing with her, ‘riding her ears forward’ pushing her forward, loose reins and driving forward.
Green horses or young horses a lot times lack forward motion, most people are worried of Green or nervous horses running away with them and of course that can happen but 80% of the time , what they actually need is opening up, driving forward, it doesn’t matter what type they are, you may think ‘well that’s ok on a cob like that’ I ride all different types of horses from the top to the bottom, there all the same, some are just more athletic that others, but there minds are the same….Once you get there feet out of the bind and they’ll move out freely, they become much calmer and easier to ride, the opposite to what most people think!
You watch over the next few days how this mare progresses, she’s gonna be doing plenty of long steady cantering on loose reins the next few days!
If you’ve a sticky, nervy, lazy , strong, spooky, whatever horse… do this and you’ll see the results, trust me 🫡
If your a nervous rider or don’t like the thought of not hanging on the reins as a comfort blanket… well get yourself a beer or a shot whiskey before you get on and get going!
You’ll feel great when you get off, you’re braver and more capable than what you think, but you got to do these things to realise 👌
