Aaha RARA Gold Cup 2025

We have lost 2-0 against a very deserving side Nepal Police Club yesterday. I wish them good luck for the Semi-final. Unavailability of our regular striker and midfielders cost us quite dearly.

I would like to thank our players and officials for your unwavering dedication, passion and effort on and off the pitch. We are proud of you all. 👏👏

It has been an incredible journey full of positives and thrill. The experience gained through this tour has been invaluable for both the players and club. We acknowledge our shortfalls and weaknesses, and will come back stronger in the future iteration.

I would also like to take this opportunity to thank Sahara Club Pokhara Nepal , Sahara UK Football Club, Sungabha Entertainment, Chillim Reading, Himalayan Oasis, Punhill Groceries Ltd, Gurkha Variety, and all those who have helped us financially and morally for this. BBC UK is competing in this year’s Aaha Rara Pokhara Gold Cup football tournament which will take place in Pokhara between 4 – 15 Feb 25. Please come and support the team if you are in Nepal during this time!

Most of our players and officials arrived in Kathmandu yesterday and the remaining players will join the squad in the next 72 hrs.

As you can imagine, taking a football team overseas is a huge challenge in itself for a non-professional club like us. It involves meticulous planning, enormous time and effort, and more importantly a hefty finance. This would have not been possible without the tireless effort of our committee, and support from various organisations, businesses, friends, and families.

I would like to extend my heartfelt gratitude to our dedicated committee, Sahara UK, NRNA UK, Sungabha Entertainment, Chillim Restaurant - Reading, Himalayan Oasis – Tidworth, Punhill Grocery – Tidworth, Gurkha Variety Store – Tidworth, and everyone who has helped us financially from their own pockets (It is a very long list of names🙏).

Also, I would like to thank BFBS Gurkha Radio- Kathmandu, and extend our deepest gratitude to the BBC Nepal president and members, and senior dais for your warm hospitality and exceptional arrangements made for our players and officials.

Thank you once again for making this tour already a remarkable experience for everyone involved.
